NO WAY TO CALHOUN

I never ever thought I would say this but I would hire Jim Calhoun in a minute.
Over the course of the last 25 years he has been by far the best coach out there and I would hope he could give us a good 5 years in an attempt to right this sinking ship.
The one thing I have no doubt he would immediately do is hire the best staff possible which would not consist of his cronies and yes men as the last three head coaches at SJU have done. Needless to say I am excluding Kevin Clark.

Yea it would be a terrible idea to hire Calhoun and actually turn this program into a winner! I love hearing about transfers, 12 win seasons and 1,000 people at our home games. Why would we want to hire someone who has had success we can only dream of!

Whoever thinks we should hire Calhoun really has some set of balls on them!

While we're at it why dont we start a thread for the Mets to hire Tony LaRussa

I am against Calhoun as well. It is similar to when the talk was of Jordan coming to the Knicks. I was opposed to that too. I mean if we can't beat them, we hire them? That is just me.

HELLLLLL NOOOO ... Hes such a scum bag! The man used to go around telling recruits that Carnesecca had cancer and taking talented recruits and putting them on his bench , giving them little to no playtime just so other teams wouldnt have them

Calhoun was having trouble making games five years ago. The stress would put him right back in the hospital. He looks good because he's retired.

There's no assurance that he could win here. If the wheels really are off this program this program really is cursed.

NO. ABSOLUTELY NO. I DON'T WANT ST. JOHN'S TO BECOME A SLIMEY WIN AT ALL COSTS SCHOOL LIKE CONN U.. I HAVE BEEN A SEASON TICKET HOLDER SINCE 1971. IF THEY HIRED CALGOON I WOULD NOT RENEW MY SEASON TICKETS.

Let me start by saying I strongly disliked Calhoun during his time at UCONN. The dislike grew exponentially during his final years there. I always thought he was a prima donna, cheat, and mysteriously was always given a pass by the media.

That said, here is the bottom line........

-Calhoun wants to coach
-Someone is going to give him a job
-The program he joins will quickly make positive strides
-He can groom a replacement (see Kevin Ollie)
-WE DESPARATELY NEED ALL OF THESE THINGS!!!

As a Yankee fan, I sucked it up and rooted for Roger Clemens for a while. I am officially ready to do that with Jim Calhoun. Yes, I want success for SJU that bad.

Here's a great article the details Calhoun's Slimeball ethics, including admitting to cheating:

Or this recent article that was posted about the mess he left UConn in (I doubt he retired by choice, probably because he didn't want to deal with these penalties):

I cant believe we are talking about Calhoun coming to STJ. Why not Tubby Smith?? why not PJ?? they have all taken teams further than any STJ team has gone before.. We either stick with Lavin or go with a young coach like an Archie Miller, or Rick PItino jr

Calapari is more of a slimeball than Calhoun IMO and the Kentucky blue bloods are pretty happy. People said the same thing about Calapari when Carneseca retired. But we would have been so much better as a program if we hired him. There is not a doubt in my mind if we hired Calhoun he can right the ship.

i would love PJ.

IMy first choice I'd rather Lavin just recruit more players and coach like his 1st year here and not lose a bunch of players along the way

If that can't be the case then I'd take Calhoun in a second. But I'll be the first to admit I'd take the Son of Sam as a coach if he could get us to the ncaa tournament
