I hate to be that guy, but let me the one to start the NIT thread, because there is no way we are making the NCAA tournament, and most people are already thinking about next year (me).

If we loose to Marquette, do we even have a shot?

Would you settle for the CBI or what?

Yes we clinched a winning record and will most likely be in the NIT.

Don't be so sure. Remember, regular season conference champions who do not make the NCAA tournament, are given an automatic invite to the NIT (the exception being Texas-San Antonio, who won there league, but is ineligable for postseason this year due to low APR scores).

Last year that numbered at something like 13, which is very high. Pitt had to settle for the CBI (which they won) at 2 games over .500.

Assuming we lose to Mqette and in the first round at MSG that puts us from 6-3 team, to a 8-11 team. 2 and 8 in out last 10 games would not be viewed as a good NIT candidate. Assuming we lose the last 2 games of the year, just put the balls away and forget this horrible year ever took place.

For the the baseball fans on the thread, we do have 85 NYY wins to look forward to or the 75 wins the NYM will have.

I'm back on my usual year end LIU bandwagon

I swear I've just spent watching the best game I've seen all season watching LIU comeback over quinnipiac to win their 1st round NEC tourney game 91-83

How about SJU and Stony Brook making runs to CWS?

I'm back on the Stony Brook bandwagon for the third year. Hopefully they get it done this time -- getting angry about a team losing when they aren't even really your team sucks.

If they get matched up in the tourney against a team that relies heavily on the three, I think they could spring an upset.

We are not a tournament team. Especially without Harrison. Plus to be truthful and unbiased this team does not deserve to get into a tournament, they have been that bad

Have you seen NIT crowds the past few years. On the outside chance we make it to MSG even regardless of how bad our crowds are, the NIT would take us for the pure fact we'd put some asses in the seats. More than some random college.

Considering how the NIT is viewed and the high expectations of the fan base for our team. if we make it i doubt it will be a big draw.

I doubt our last game will draw a big crowd either.

Definitely not a big draw. But if by chance STJ is there as opposed to Minnesota STJ will get a better gate for them

In Norm's final year we were taken at 16-15 versus Memphis.

Actually, it was 17-15 that year (first round loss in NIT made it one game over .500). Same record as Pitt had last year, and they didn't get in.

The year we made it, there were only about 4 or 5 of those automatic bids the NIT had to grant (I think Carolina got in at .500 that year). That number is so flexible, it tends to be the deciding factor. If we win first round Big East Tourney, we probably get it regardless.
