Next 3 Games ….. Xavier, UConn and DePaul.

I'm going to a game watch on campus Wednesday. I generally hate these, as I prefer to watch the games and not be social during play.

Of the next three, I see Xavier as a potential stumbling block. To me, it's all that matters till Thursday morning.

If we win vs. Xavier it puts some juice into the UCONN game. At 6-4 goin in, a win Saturday would mean a ton.

I love Rick's reference to "Good is the enemy of great". If we really aspire to be great, that road starts on Wednesday.

If we take care of business Vs. Xavier, Saturday becomes a reason Rick took this job - bright lights, packed Garden, national ranking on the line.

UCONN is reigning national champ, first place in Big East, but we have to set the stage coming in.

Beat Xavier, it's all that matters right now.

Some of my best material yet and it falls flatter on this board than a Brady foul shot whereas I’ll write something even I don’t find funny and friends here text me cracking up :)
If releasing an uninspiring joke may be virgin territory to you, take it from someone who has failed to share a climax or two; take heart knowing you will always be able to relax in the end knowing you selfishly reached euphoria and be stimulated to carve another 3-4 minutes and try again, but only after a snack.

The Xavier and DePaul games have to be in the W column, if we want to be taken seriously. It would be herculean to beat UCONN the way they are playing right now, but many #1s have fallen this year, and so we can hope. Winning that one would cement a bid (IMO) and would definitely make a huge statement going into the final strech, as was said. I am hoping that game is at least competitive. Clingan being back make UCONN a very different team than the one we almost (should have) beaten. But, hands folded and fingers crossed.

This thread is overblown. We have to beat DePaul, obviously. We do not NEED to be beat Xavier, but it would be very good to win that road game - would provide cushion for a potential home loss to Seton Hall and would make 20 regular season wins a realistic goal. Beating UConn is not necessary, a competitive loss would be just fine - but it would certainly be great to win that game- and probably an instant top-25 ranking if it comes on the heels of a win at X.

But really we just have to be DePaul and play well in the other 2 games.

Would love to see UConn win the Providence game and come into MSG #1 in the country AND defending national champs.

You only get so many opportunities at that kind of win over the history of your program.
Since the polls are weekly UConn will technically still be ranked #1 in the country even with a loss to Providence.

Unless I’m mistaken, which wouldn’t be the first time.

Providence visits UConn tomorrow night. That is no gimmee for UConn at all.

Agree. Win Wednesday first abd how many times do you even get to see a game with your team against the #1 team in the country. I just want a shot
*Marillac and Maher stare awkwardly at ESPKen for answer*
We have a (6-21) record alltime against #1 teams in the AP Poll.
At Madison Square Garden (3-10)
In the Big East Era (2-12)

Last game vs #1 at MSG, 1/13/2018 vs Nova.
Before that, 1/30/1999 vs UConn, very tough 78-74 loss that wrapped up hell week.

FWIW 16 year old me would have found that comment really hilarious. ;)

Tomorrow night is a toss up, Sat is most likely a loss, Depaul is an automatic win. 1-2 is worst case scenario in this stretch.

Hey, Rick wants every game, he came here to be an instant winner. He's trying to get them better, they look night and day defensively from back in November.

True, we might not need those game except the DePaul game, but just for the sake of it lets ROLL EVERYONE.

Plus the seniors want it bad, it's their last damn shot in college to do something special.

Lets win a freaking NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. Why not us? We got the best coach in the college with us for once.

It doesn't does matter what we the fans think.
The only thing that matters is that they believe in themselves and believe in their team mates.

If they do then anything can happen.
