New York Mets 2025 Season

Hate F’n padres! Can never win in that town does team bang TJ Hookers and eat fish tacos 🌮 every time out there?

It’s the price you pay (or a curse) for claiming the greatest moment in baseball history.

I couldn’t make it last night. Fell off down 6-5. Probably a good thing given the result but happy for Mauricio and Vientos.

Bottom line the problem of what we really need was highlighted in bold letters. BULLPEN.

Now that we're 48 hours until deadline, what do you want to see?

I like that the rumors are the Mets want two more relievers. We've been seriously ravaged with injuries, so its impressive we're as strong as we are. But I'd like to be in a place where we have another 8th inning option to move Stanek/Garrett down a notch & another medium leverage guy to move Brazoban down to AAA (great example of where options on players are important). Even better would be getting a guy with options and have him in AAA as well.

Still think Robert would be a fantastic move. If its for a package of Tidwell, Acuna, and Gilbert, I'd prefer that over Vientos. But you give to get something.

Adding an ace seems like a pipe dream, but I wonder if Shane Bieber becomes a target.

Go all in. Offer the farm system to get a star pitcher and a star bat.

For every Peter Crowe-Armstrong there are a dozen Greg Jeffries.

Bullpen, Bullpen, Bullpen. They know that. That will cost reasonable prospects not Top 10 unless it’s the ever elusive top of the market and I don’t know if that’s available.

An expanded deal with say the Pirates like Bednar and Keller or Santana would need to include one of the infielders and a better prospect. Maybe.

I am out on Robert unless the price comes down. He has a $20m team option I believe. Let the CWS make that mistake. They waited too long to deal him. As you mentioned Tidwell, Acuna, Gilbert is more than a fair package. Doesn’t sound like CWS think that’s enough. Time to move on.

Maybe I’m crazy but the deadline looks like just bullpen to me. People talking star pitcher and star bat are going to be disappointed. Unless someone is being stealth sure don’t sound like those players are available.

By the way, Dylan Cease was a mess last night. Sandy Alcantara has been a mess all season. Neither guy is worth what the ask is THIS SEASON. Long term investment? Sure. Helping us win a WS this year? No. They need work.

Greg Jeffries was a two-time all-star with a career batting average of .289 over 14 seasons that stole 46 bases and hit .342 one season. I'd sign for that from anyone in our farm system.

In a 2 month vacuum of course deal is fine.
But marte contract expires EOY. Vientos made for DH next year
vientos has 3.5 more years of team control.
Robert 2 years of “affordable” options are 20 mil each- overpaid, don’t think they’d exercise.
I’d rather re-sign Taylor as 3.0 mil 5th outfielder/ late innings defensive replacement.

There’s a reason Sox are trading him- they don’t plan on exercising his options.
Is he better than Taylor- yes, but I don’t want to sell low on vientos

I'm a huge Vientos fan. From memory, I think he hit 34 homers last year in 114 games (including the playoffs) and he looked like an MVP candidate in the playoffs. Then we sh*t on him by batting him 5th and 6th offering him zero protection? I don't think he's batted #2 two games in a row all year. That's not how you treat a developing bat. He needs to bat 9th or 2nd. Who would throw him fastballs with Alvarez and Taylor behind him?
