New York Mets 2025 Season

Why doesn’t MLB schedule teams in the northeast and in areas that remain frigid to play their opening games in domes or areas that are warm?

Warm weather teams don’t want the imbalance in the schedule by playing more games at home in April and May. Attendance increases as schools let out in June. So in other words it’s about money.💰 surprise, surprise.

Tough to complain, 6-3 and they have not hit much at all. The starters have been good, but the bullpen has been terrific.

Pile the wins however they can. Season is so long, that rarely does everything click all at once. There will come a time when the bats will bail out the pitching.

Baty is getting a chance and he is fumbling it. Acuna hasn’t exactly seized the opportunity either but at least he can run. Looks like Jeff McNeil has nothing to worry about from these two.

Here’s a feel good story. Matt Allen.

Baty and Vientos both playing like it’s 2023.

Baty is a great AAA player. Sadly.

Acuna has reminded me of Timo Perez. Exciting player but woefully inconsistent.
Baty can’t hit a belt to chest fastball. Keith was talking about it. Man in today’s game you need to hit fastballs. That is just a requirement.

Acuna is meh. I think it’s time to see a little more of him and less Baty until McNeil returns. I’ve been holding out on Baty but it just doesn’t seem to happen when the lights are on.

The difference between Vientos and Baty is that Vientos showed us what he can do. Baty hasn’t really flashed much to hold onto on at least three different occasions.

I would play Acuna for now. He is the better fielder. We don't have any short term internal candidates. Hopefully Jett Williams will have a good start and Mauricio will get back to playing. On a side note Brandon Sproat has had a bad start to 2025.

There are flaws with this Mets team but we are 6-3. Hopefully Stearns will make some good pickups and we peak again late in the season.

Early April is not the time to panic. Players are still getting in shape, the weather is less than ideal. Hurry up and wait.

Baty and Vientos both playing like it’s 2023.

Vientos needs protection. His range of outcomes as essentially as second year player are as wide as anyone in baseball. Slot him #2 in front of Soto and Alonso and he will hit .270 with 30-35 homers. He crushes fastballs and nobody will play with him with Soto and Alonso waiting.

It also lets Soto get more RBI chances. It may take a little protection away from Alonso, but Alonso's floor is substantially higher than Vientos' this year.

Baty is getting awfully close to his last chance. I've really been pulling for the kid, but he's got like 2 weeks.

Tidwell had a great first outing and bad second outing. Sproat had an awful first outing and a good second outing. I know Syracuse is a tough place to pitch, but the staff there needs to do a better job of getting our prospects over that final hump.
