Nimmo has 200+ more plate appearances, but the OPS+ difference is only 117 vs. 112. The percentage stats are all right in the ballpark.

What's also impressive is that Baty was pretty awful the first 19 games of the year when he was sent down: .204 BA/.246/.352 with 1 homer and 4 RBI's.

Once he was brought up, for good, on May 7th, his 110 game sample size is: .263/.324/.450 (.774 OPS) with 17 homers and 46 RBI's. A fantastic trajectory and portends to a good Major League starter.
You Baty’s agent? 😇

Just curious, what was Vientos’s trajectory after last year? Alvarez’s after his rookie year? How did those work out?

There's no guarantees at all. Maybe it's a 100 game flash in the pan. But, the nice thing is Baty at least has given the Mets org a legitimate reason to pencil him in there next year & there will be a guarantee of above-average defense and flexibility for day-to-day decisions.

I think Baty has a better than average chance at becoming a borderline all-star because he’s a good hitter, decent baserunner, he can hit in the clutch and is a plus-fielder. He’s still young, he should be their 3B now and in the future.

Alvarez, people forget, is still young. He’ll be their catcher and he’s gonna hit .250 with 20-plus HRs. His defense is ok. His problem is the injuries, so you need a good backup and Torrens is perfect for that.

Vientos…I think he’s been figured out ala Timo Perez. He can’t field and he can’t run, so if he can’t hit, he offers nothing. His value was as high as it was gonna get this past July, they should have traded him. Mauricio is way more of a MLBer than him.

The thing that was so odd with Baty’s slow start was that his floor seemed so high as a prospect. Solid glove, strong arm, great approach at the plate, big power, amazing work ethic, etc.

There is that awkward period as a young player where pitchers make you prove you can hit breaking balls. Vientos and Baty, as I’ve gone off ad nauseam, were not given any protection to help with that. You can see the difference when they are protected…when McNeil is on one of his streaks or when Alvarez is hitting. There as big part of the season where Alvarez and Taylor were automatic outs behind them. Baty is hitting .455 with Lindor behind him!

I don’t think Vientos and Baty are completely through that awkward period yet, but they are getting closer to becoming mature hitters.

They have their 3 best starters lined up to go this weekend so doubt they are going to just lay down this weekend.
Bill J grew up loving the Mets and baseball might be his first love. However, now that he is a minority owner of the Merlins they get all of his love. No help there.

Alvarez and torrens = highest caufht stealing rate at 2b in mlb at 35%.

Alvarez is the most vocal Met in the dugout especially when given a night off. He is quickly becoming a team leader which is remarkable at 23.

During his met workout prior to signing, he was hitting hr after hr on the mets practice field which i believe mimics citifield dimensions. He was 15 at the time.

Befors he is done he will be dh'ing or playing first because of his bat. Right now he is a sucker for the slider away. With more discipline will bevame a much tougher out

For these last three games are we better off with Marte as the DH or Vientos?

Make no mistake they are going to do whatever it takes to screw us. Can’t let it happen!

I mean, what do we expect them to do, rest their players and call it a day? If we were in the same situation against any of our divisional opponents, I’d want us to roll out who should go out. We’d probably relax anyway if we got some AAA pitcher and he’d look like Koufax.

Almost all of the position players are old, not athletic, and/or bad on defense. Too much to overcome.

I don’t care how sacrilegious this sounds, I hope this team misses out. That’s how disillusioned I’ve become with them.

Gregory Soto is a complete disaster. Come to think of it our trade deadline was a complete disaster. G Soto, Mullins, Helsley. Maybe Rogers was ok. Wow Stearns made some additions that have killed us.
