Dear Friends,
I write to personally introduce myself to you.
I’m Nick Vendikos, ’91 SVC, and it is with great excitement that I return to my alma mater as the new Senior Director of Athletic Development.
I have been a professional development officer for nearly 20 years, and I return to St. John’s (I worked in the Office of Institutional Advancement from 1999 to 2001) after serving for four years as the Director of Development of Catholic Foundation for Brooklyn and Queens | Futures in Education. While there, I was part of the senior management team that raised $130 million on an $80 million goal for the largest capital campaign in the history of the Brooklyn Diocese.
Simply stated, I left to serve the place we all love, and to win ... and win big and often. Together.
We need to provide our coaches and student-athletes the tools to dominate the BIG EAST, nationally, in the classroom and in life. For our teams to be successful, we need you! I like to compare it to the athletic fundraising version of the Powell Doctrine of overwhelming force. Our mandate is straightforward: To be the top athletic fundraising program in the BIG EAST and to be the benchmark for other universities to measure up against.
That being said, I would welcome the opportunity to meet or speak with you. Please feel free to contact me at vendikon@stjohns.edu or 718-990-6147 as I value your opinions and welcome your advice. I look forward to working for you in the months and years to come!
