Me too!!!
Poor Richard's Pub
Grandma's (before Gantry''s)
Sam's

An older cousin told me that in the 60s with the drinking age 18, no student was permitted to drink in a bar within 1 mile of campus. Sam's and Creighton and Gray's I believe we're just beyond 1 mile. Poor Richard's and Gantry's didn't exist.

A guy in my town owned Gantry's. Once drinking age hit 21 he scraped by for several years and became a school teacher to make ends meet before shutting it down.

First friend I made at St. John's was my physics lab partner. He taught math at Chaminade for decades after. Great guy. After a.m. physics lab would go to poor Richard's for pub burgers and pitchers of beer. I'd go to intro to pharmacy with Bellafiore pretty drunk burping beer.

Ooh ooh call on me, I have a Bellefiore story.

Several of pater's graduate students - G___T____, S____ K___ and M___ G_______ among them - stole a life size statue of some saint, I think Jude but don't quote me, from Bellefiore's classroom a floor above and after delivering it to my father's office festooned it with lab goggles, rubber gloves and various other paraphernalia including a faux joint and a hypo. (I have pictures.) Various machinations ensued whereby the statue was returned to Bellefiore's classroom, at which point Bellefiore destroyed it with an ax because it had been desecrated. Thereafter pranksters rescued the statue’s amputated hands from the dumpster and one late evening suspended them from the ceiling of Bellefiore's classroom to greet him when he came in in the morning. Allegedly. And any suggestion that I was involved is a vicious lie.

Donte's or Dante's? Looie used to mention it all the time. I've never been there.
If the walks could talk rhymes, but I think the expression is if the walls could talk.
Boy, if the walls could talk, at a certain different Italian Ristorante in a city about 737 mies southeast of here ;-)

My spelling error. Lesson learned, don’t sign up for things while consuming alcohol. I will roll with Donte.

burgers were great and the beer wasn't bad either. Drowned my sorrows after a tough day of brutal Prof. Rowan and Property law in PRP.

Funny thing is years and years later my wife and I are in One If By Land, Two If By Sea in Greenwich Village, and seated next to us also celebrating an Anniversary were Prof Patrick Rowan and his wife. I wanted to go over and punch the guy, but I didn't, because I could tell he was very inebriated.

No relation to Ron Rowan.
