Thought we should make a thread for all NCAA tournament games non- SJU.

Ole Miss won last night over BYU and they will play Xavier.

Thought this was interesting, the eastern Washington coach just guaranteed a win over Georgetown on the Jim Rome show. Their fans on their board are equally as cocky.
 
Everybody is voting against the Big East. They either haven't seen the teams play, or they follow the ESPN crap and still believe that the conference isn't good.

A lot of people have Butler losing their first game and Xavier losing their first game.

I fully expect butler to lose. Xavier, Georgetown should win despite naysayers. And IMO people saying nc state will beat nova are insane.

I have But and Xav winning but they both got tough draws. TX is an easy upset pick. They are a very talented team that should have done more this season. If you had done brackets to start the season TX likely would have been a 2 or 3 seed. I thought BYU was going to be tough for Xavier but Ole Miss showed that they aren't to be trifled with. Besides Nova, I think we got the best matchup in the Big East, even if the lowest seed.

They did. They have a well rounded team and I think Xavier will win but it will be very close. BYU was a great matchup for Xavier but they blew that lead last night and now x has a much tougher draw.
 
The "experts" on espn u had every big east team losing in the first round except providence and villanova. I was surprised they had providence winning their second game.....that said jay bilas had both st johns and gtown winning first round games which i was surprised about that too...he even said sju would give duke a little run but the loss of obekpa would be too much. I for one see the big east having nice matchups here....I can see butler making a nice run and can see villanova winning it all
IF st johns can go on a run themselves, and these other teams win....we could face 4 teams we already saw this year...duke..gtown....gonzaga...villanova....all games we had a lead in......we can dream........against gonzaga...obekpa was useless with his 1 point and 4 rebounds and fouling out...also he was pretty invisible against duke fouling out of that one too....with his 4 points and 0 blocks. We didnt have him for the last nova game...which we somehow hung in for 2/3 of that game..and now we have branch back........and the first nova game he scored 8 and had 3 blocks and 5 boards.....so we know we can hang with these teams without obekpa if we show up hungry. A few of those games jordan was quiet....before he took off after starting......even though we are very very thin......why cant we catch some shabazz napier, boatright and deandre daniels magic like uconn did last year. They were also pretty thin getting production from really those 3 guys mainly.....we have a decent enough chance against all these teams duke included especially if we can get okafor in foul trouble by driving to the basket.....all these teams we can legitimately beat i think with nova being the toughest really......i can dream!!!!!.....lets go st johns!!!! :)
 
Butler got a bad draw, but they are not an easy out. I think they are better than Xavier.

I am going to be pulling hard for the Big East. Man, we need to make some noise this year. Villanova has to get to the Final Four and it would be great if two other teams could join them in the Sweet 16.
 
I think St. Johns, Providence, Nova, Georgetown and Butler win first round.

I have Providence and Nova advancing to at least the sweet 16.
 
Georgetown better smack that Eastern Washington team by 20 after the coach guaranteed a victory. That is a slight to them and the entire Big East.

I also didn't like the way some of the SDSU reacted to us as a good draw for them. This is a huge year for the Big East and a statement has to be made. We need 5/6 standing after Friday night.

I have STJ, Nova and Prov winning 1st round. Other 3 losing, Texas is the higher seed and favored over Butler. I guess 3-3 wouldn't be too bad for the BE .

Butler should take that game. I think Xavier is the weakest of the Big East teams, but they have a chance.

I'd like to see them all win but you know that's not going to happen. Are you going to Charlotte I know you live in Fla that's not a bad trip.

3-3 is on the low end after this season. Anything worse will damage the league. There are many vocal critics waiting to pounce if the league performs average or worse.

The pressure is on the coaches - especially Wright. He can't lose early (pre elite eight) with a 32 win team.

Maybe you're right, but Ole Miss saw no resistance in that game with BYU the other night (and didn't play much defense itself in that game). Xavier will play a completely different game than that, and their big guys should keep Rhett under control (he was a major problem for BYU). I'll also take a team from the better conference, all else being fairly equal.
