NCAA to pull all championship events from N.C.

The ACC follows NCAA lead and pulls athletic championships out of North Carolina amid backlash over bathroom law.

To reiterate: Kudos to the NCAA.

You'd retract that if your 10 year old daughter was accosted in a ladies room by a gender confused male who identifies as a female lesbian.

Beast, sadly there are always going to be situations of individuals being accosted by sexually, and criminally, aggressive individuals -- most of whom are heterosexual. As for the law passed by the North Carolina, it requires transgender people (and everyone else) to use public restrooms, as defined, according to the biological sex on their birth certificate. That said, women who have "transgendered" into males -- and who have a penis -- would be forced to used the women's restroom or locker room because their birth certificates states they're female. As the parent of a 10-year-old girl, that's something would cause me consternation.

Ken, the federal mandate has no requirement for any clinical assessment to be made. An individual only has to assert that they identify with another gender - and NOTHING else - to legally use the bathroom of their choice. The federal ruling was poorly conceived simply for political purpose to rev up the LGBT vote, the same way BLM movement has been, the same way Occupy Wall Street was used. Don't confuse that with any point that any of those movements has merit. It was done purely and simply to be used to divide people to make their voting choices simpler. Is it reasonable to qualify what a transgender person is - even by a very private registration or designation by a healthcare provider? I believe so. But the point of this administration is to cast everything so broadly black and white as to really agitate their voting base.

The one thing, and maybe the only thing, that this administration has been successful is dividing people.

What doesn't surprise me is that the NCAA would do this. If the bathroom issue had come out of a Republican administration, colleges would remain silent on it. College have become far left wing operatives. Last week a college professor was filmed ripping posters announcing a 9-11 memorial service off campus buildings and destroying it. Her stated reason was that those posters were not allowed on buildings on that area of campus. What she neglected to disclose is that she is a public advocate that the US deserved 9-11 for our policies in the middle east. Her college took no punitive action for her destruction of private property (the posters) about a friggin 9-11 memorial service.

But clearly to me, this legislation wasn't designed to benefit any particular group, but to rile up the LGBT when there would be an obvious backlash - especially in swing states.

NC schools should drop out of the ACC and join the Big East. Wouldn't that be a kick in the ass?

This only adds to the confusion: One's gender isn't given on Kenyan birth certificates. :(

Meanwhile-- the NCAA is more than happy to have exhibition games played in China, a champion of gay and transgender rights.

Whoops. When I first read the topic, I thought the NCAA was holding UNC accountable for phantom classes. Alas, I should have known better.

Don't knock those classes!! They gave each student a free tee shirt at the end of the course.

ACC announces they will move all of their championships to Madison Square Garden.

how many transgender or whatever type people are going to want to use the ladies rooms at sporting events. So many people drink at those events you ever see the line for their bathrooms ? I go to a hockey game at msg and I'm out of the mens room in minutes and can walk down to the bronx pail ale booth drink another beer and go to the bathroom again and Nathalie is still waiting on line for the ladies room. Especially the upstairs bathrooms near the chase bridge

True, and Broadway's Boothe Theater is famous for having large numbers of women "invade" the men's room once the bells are rung to indicate the start of Act II and the line to the undersized ladies room is still 25 long. No one's hurt, no one (or seemingly no one) cares, and there's usually a lot of laughter as they yell out things like, "Don't worry, guys, we're not looking!"

When will it be announced that we are invading North Carolina? Just told my daughter who lives down there with my 4 grandchildren that we are never going to visit her in NC again until they change the laws as we fall in line with the NBA, NCAA and ACC. :silly:

Gender identity, homosexuality and pedophilia are very distinct issues.

No kidding. But there is ample reason for rational people to be concerned with an adult with sexual identity issues sharing rest room facilities with adults and children of the opposite biological gender. The federal government intentionally made this legislation broad and vague with absolutely no requirement of the affected person other than to assert without any other validation that they identify with the opposite sex. Gender identity is distinctly different from pedophilia, but the intentional vague language of the federal government opens a floodgate for any person to use the bathroom of the opposite gender and not be questioned in doing so.

So, to reiterate my main point, this federal mandate is deliberately vague and designed to rile the most ardent supporters of the LGBT movement up when the predictable response to the vagueness of the mandate pushes back. The overwhelming objective is to drive LGBT voters and their strongest supporters to the polls to vote democratic this November. IT was constructed that way and timed that way, and the NCAA response is in complete concert with that goal.

Money rules! When NC starts losing money, they'll modify the law. Arizona did not recognize the MLK JR holiday for the longest time. When the NFL threatened to pull the Super Bowl, from Phoenix, the AZ law changed to recognize the holiday.
