NCAA North Carolina Investigation Update

Obviously UNC will stretch this out & get another season in without penalties, etc. What a joke!

Re-starting the NCAA clock on UNC. Resolution of case now in the fall, perhaps.

Per Andrew Carter;

UNC AD Bubba Cunningham confirms receipt of amended NOA. Says that UNC received it, electronically, at 10:30 this morning.

What happens then:
-90 days for UNC to respond
-60 days for NCAA to respond to response
-Committee on Infractions hearing
-Final ruling
-Appeals?

What a joke. Many "lesser" schools would have been punished long ago.

Wow what a fraudulent organization the NCAA has become or maybe always was. Just substitute St. John's or any number of the not chosen and NCAA investigators would be all over campus with there bogus threats and righteous indignation.

I don't know what planet you guys are on, I've always found the NCAA to be extraordinarily efficient and beyond reproach. I heard from reliable sources that, on the "What The NCAA Has Recently Accomplished" front, Orlando Sanchez just lost another year of eligibility.

Johnny Fan
same with a certain presidential candidate - lesser, common folk "workers" would've faced the guillotine for misbehavior...
To hell with the so called blue blood, " big boys"
My focus is on SJU who once again is becoming a big boy and hopefully sans the need to misbehave ala the UNC, Louisville bs...

One factor not being discussed much is that UNC and the NCAA are being sued by former players. So there may be a conflict of interest for the NCAA here. It may be in their best interest to position the fake classes as a benefit provided to the wider student body and not a mechanism set up primarily to allow lousy students to win UNC basketball and football games.

A particularly disgusting revision is the change of the start date from 2002 to the fall of 2005, which just happens to remove the men's April 2005 championship in basketball from any penalty.

NCAA looking pretty pathetic.

They are..........................................

That is the M.O. of the NCAA.
They did it for Syracuse to protect their national championship; why shouldn't they do it for North Carolina?. SU's investigation reached back to commence a period starting 1 second after their NCAA victory so as not to tarnish the NCAA multi billion dollar March Madness brand. Coach Boeheim stated 35 years ago that he had no interest in what happened off the court whatsoever when he repeatedly announced, " I teach basketball; I am not their parents". That lack of interest in control of the program probably just happened to gestate and reveal itself minutes after the championship.
It's all about the money and it is only about the money.
I really understand it. Why would you kill the cow that produces the milk when you can always demonstrate that you are a fair judge and jury by giving the "death penalty" to North East Trombone State every couple of years or so ?
40 years ago, and to the best of my knowledge today, Kentucky housed their team in an exclusive and spectacular town house mansion on campus called "The Cat House". It was not open to any other student. The NCAA came down hard on them and insisted on change. KU then allowed the son of somepone in the AD's office to live there as well and the issue went away till this day. That seems to be the Carolina defense. They allowed "other" student non athletes to take the same no-show courses. As I see it, what's good for Syracuse and Kentucky is good for Carolina. Play on!
But, you horn players from Trombone State, don't ever try to step a foot out of line knowingly or unwittingly. We'll show you who is boss. Just make sure you have clever lawyers.

So true

The further along this investigation goes the more trouble Cleveland St. is in.

Long story short, UNC seems prepared and willing to fight.

Lawyer crap and scapegoating; did anyone expect anything else? And more profound in the long run, a serious challenge to the authority of the NCAA; expect the NCAA to back off as they attempt to stay in the good graces of the Power 5. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Agreed. It's like I told my Boston relatives. Sure sports is full of cheaters but that's n0 excuse. You get caught take your medicine like a woman/man, don't whine like a mouse.
