NBA Scouts - St John's Guys Not Ready

Sampson has a shot if he can develop a consistent perimeter game and Obepka has a shot if he develop offensively. I agree though, Rysheed has the best shot of all of them.

I think Jordan is the only guy on the roster with a shot of ever making a NBA team....thoughts?

I can't see how anyone is ready to proclaim Jordan an NBA prospect based on what we've seen. So far, the only skill he seems to possess that is above average is his ability to get into the paint and get off acrobatic shots that go in more than any of our other guys. Compare him to Pearl Washington as a freshman, who was a dynamo doing to the basket, dishing, and basically was unstoppable in the paint. PW as we all remember, was a flop in the pros, because of no outside shot - an ugly push shot that he never needed to develop into a jumper because he was that good.

Jordan has potential but has shown little consistency except for very recently when he was BE rookie of the week. That's a far cry from the complete skillset you need for the NBA, and we are simply reacting to the bright flashes he has shown recently, and not any measure of the completeness a guard needs to bring to the NBA.

Jordan is the best defender on this team.
Pearl couldn't guard me.

Pearl wouldn't have to guard you-he would steal it from you in a split second every time! :)

Great potential, but very raw. He's no Marcus Smart, let's put it that way. He'll need three years to make the first round. He is an unproven distributor and a below average shooter at this point.

THe fact that the scout didn't even mention him (that I saw at least) says a lot.

Marillac, one scout felt strongly that Pointer could be an effective NBA two guard, because of his solid offensive rebounding & heady play. Your thoughts?

Didn't know that the guy that convinced Portland to take Larue Martin first in the NBA draft was still scouting.

Great one Ray!!

And not even a mention about Sanchez? Gee what a surprise. FWIW I still think D'lo has a decent shot of sticking with an NBA team.

As a player?
He is the classic definition of a tweener...except in this case, he is a tweener without a spectacular skill.
Too small to be a SG. Too inconsistent to be a SG. Too slow and without a handle to be a PG.

End result? Good college career and a ticket to Europe to earn some bucks.

I tend to agree that I don't see Harrison as NBA player. The comparison some people gave awhile back was Eddie House. Harrison is a little taller but they have similar bodies and stats as well. He did stick in the NBA for awhile.

No, as a water boy lol. On the surface you are correct, and I'm by no means saying it a sure thing, but something tells me he'll wind up at the end of some teams bench at some point. We'll see.

While a few of our guys have shown flashes of brilliant, athletic NBA type play, the real standard is that they have to do it consistently, which I have not seen yet this season.
