Knicks pass on Porter.. damn them. Definitely worth the gamble with huge upside

Nova, 3 first round pics and Brunson goes early 2nd round. good for them.

IMO DiVicenzo will not make a good pro.

Knicks hit a home run on first round pick. Knox is 19 and will be able to play either forward position for a long time. As a long suffering Knick fan I couldn't be happier. Big man they took in second round is worth the gamble but they couldn't afford to gamble with first round pick.

Some saying MJP won't play this year, so... Don't know much about the Knox kid, but most picks at 9 have questions.

I am hung up on the fact that Delgado was not picked. No NBA team could use a proven low post scorer and pro caliber rebounder? I know that there is a premium now on shooters, but I would bet a ton of dough that Delgado will be a better NBA than DeVincenzo, albeit at different positions. DeVincenzo is a nice college player, and most love his athleticism, but I am not sure he translates to an NBA career, at his height etc. Could be wrong. Strikes me as a guy who smartly struck while the iron was hot.

Very good post. I agree about Delgado. I think he is nasty strong, even for the NBA.

A lot of good players don't get drafted. Rawle Alkins, Malik Newman, Alonzo Trier, etc.

A lot of teams like drafting these foreign players they can stash in the 2nd round.

Delgado signed a two-way contract with the Clippers today.

The guy that I was shocked didn't get drafted was Rawle Alkins. I know he doesn't do anything great, but he really doesn't do anything poorly, either. I thought he would have been a nice, safe pick for somebody in round 2.

I guess it's all about projections, these days. That was always the case re: big guys, but it used to be that, if you were a guard who produced in college, you at least got drafted. Not anymore, I guess.

I’m still shocked Duval didn’t get drafted and I’m horrifically saddened about Mikail Bridges getting traded by the 76ers. His mom was absolutely devastated.

I’m not sure how good Knox is but with Kristaps possibly missing most of the next season, taking a chance on Porter would’ve been ideal. Oh well!

The Bridges thing was crazy and weird given the relationships, but I guess it's business.

Would have been ideal? Porzingis is gonna miss most of the season next year, and on Wednesday, Porter didn't rule out possibly sitting out the entire year to fully recover From back surgury. I believe Porzingis has a bad back as well. Hey he might turn out to be a super star, he might also turn out to have back trouble his entire career.

Alkins was okay in college, injuries probably played a big role.

Where is Marcus Lovett playing next year? I missed the draft.

Why not figure out a way to let kids who don't get drafted return to college if they want?

Could they enter without hiring an agent, or do they have to hire an agent?

Great idea, Monte.
These undrafted kids are 'lost in the wilderness'.
If they have remaining college eligibility and didn't hire an agent, they should be able to return. At least to get their degree.

Agree re: Divincenzo. Think his 2 main strengths are 1) plays hard and 2) good form on jumper when open. I think his weaknesses are 1) not a good defender and 2) can’t create his own shot. As you stated, he struck while the iron was hot. I don’t see him as a good NBA player. Once the NBA figures him out, he will get shut down. If Knicks had drafted him with 17th pick I would have been disappointed.

In any case, good for him and Nova. Hope I am wrong.

Make everyone on a college roster draft eligible.

And allow kids who do get drafted to be assigned back to college like hockey with the three major junior hockey leagues. Let their rookie contract be fully guaranteed in case of catastrophic injury, but the contract only starts when the NBA team decides to put them on main roster. No pulling from college halfway through season, though -- all or nothing.
