NBA Draft 2025

Is that true? I recall Luis being pretty darn close to the top of transfer rankings, I thought he was like top 3 in the 247 one before he committed to staying in the draft
247 had them both at the same grade but have moved RJ off the list. They had Ian at 7. Pretty much the same with On3 from what I can figure. Around 10 for each.

Both 247 and On3 had them about the same as far as rating goes and both in the top 10. Bryce and Joson just outside the top 10 on each.

CBS Big Board:

Notables (at least to me)

3 Tre Johnson
17 Liam McNeely
21 Asa Newell
22 Thomas Sorber
27 Kalkbrenner
29 Clayton Jr
--------------
34 Kam Jones
35 Johni Broome
38 Micah Peavy
48 Ryan Nembhrd
51 Grant Nelson
52 Hunter Sallis
53 Eric Dixon
56 Mark Sears
57 Koby Brea
59 Jamir Watkins
--------------
62 RJ Luis
66 Cliff Omoruyi
72 David Joplin
78 Chucky Hepburn
84 Kadary Richmond
89 Norchad Omier
92 LJ Cryer
99 Samson Johnson (!)

bottom line is if you get to the age you start posting here your ranking drops quicker than a 114 halftime bathroom run
So my thoughts (which I didn't have time to add when posting the list):

Tre Johnson is an interesting player, and if you think Ace Bailey is going to be a problem from a character/maturity standpoint (reasonable), Tre might be worth taking at 3.

McNeely has had pretty steady position in the teens and I think he will be a solid NBA player. I like Newell a lot also.

Kalk and Clayton Jr. are both great college players but their pro potential depends on them overcoming some of their limitations.

Kam Jones and Johni Broome are about where they should be. I had thought Peavy despite his age had NBA characteristics and it looks like the league agrees.

Grant Nelson might be a steal for someone - would not surprise me if he is about as productive as McNeely.

Hunter Sallis always looked like a pro to me but never quite got to where he should be; same for David Joplin.

Eric Dixon I just can't see in the NBA. Mark Sears is too short so same for him.

Brea should find a spot as a bench shooter.

Jamir Watkins and RJ are sort of the same guy - very athletic, great in college, unclear translation to NBA.

Nice to see Kadary at least on the top 100.

Samson Johnson? Seriously?

On Kadary Richmond's NBA Draft prospects

Richmond has been on Marks’ radar as an NBA prospect since before the New York City native transferred from Syracuse to Seton Hall in 2021. He foresees Richmond getting signed to a two-way free-agent contract after the second round, which means he would split time between an NBA squad and its G League affiliate.

“He’s probably not going to get drafted, being an older prospect (he turns 24 in August) and the fact that his shooting hasn’t improved at all,” Marks said. “(Shooting) is the biggest thing holding him back. He’s super talented, impacts the game in every other way – other than shooting. He’s got great vision, he can play passing lanes, he can guard multiple positions, he’s an elite rebounder for his position. He’s got feel, size, strength, and can finish through contact. He’s not uber quick, but he knows how to get to his spots.”

"56. St. John’s wing RJ Luis
A boom-or-bust type guy. Great rebounder and excellent defender. He improved as a shooter, but I don’t know if I fully trust his shot yet. I do trust his motor, his competitive spirit, his energy. I think that’ll translate really, really well. Probably wouldn’t say I’d predict he was going to be Big East Player of the Year, but he has a toughness to him. He has all the tools to do everything that’s needed at that level. It seems like he’s a guy that really, really wants to score the ball and kind of bases how his game is going on that, and he’ll probably be a role guy at that next level. How does that go? Who knows?"

Sleeper:
"St. John’s guard Kadary Richmond
RJ Luis was an absolute load to deal with, and Zuby Ejiofor was good too, but I think Richmond was such a domino in them winning. He has real size as a point guard and great feel defensively. At times it looks like he’s somewhat lost out there, but then he makes these plays that are incredible.

It’s hard to play guys who can’t shoot. That’s going to be something that is going to get scrutinized to the highest level because it’s so important up there. But playing against him, he feels like a guy that over time as you’ve coached and watched guys who have made it, you watch him and think, that guy makes it. If you were to look at his stats over his career, when he actually played versus when he didn’t play and the impact it had on his team, even going back to Seton Hall, he impacts winning. It seemed like his decision making really improved this past year. He was just more sound, not as loose with the ball. His deal might be a guy that has to bounce around some, but wouldn’t be shocked if he gets up there and finds a role somewhere."

Deep sleeper:
Aaron Scott will surprise some people in workouts. Not to get drafted, but I could see him playing Summer League and getting an Exhibit 10 or a two-way and making it from there, because he’s a better shooter than his percentage.

Ace Bailey needs to shoot his agent, no bullshit. He has given the young man terrible advice and may cause his stock to drop. Omar Cooper has absolutely no qualifications to be an agent. I hope that the young fella and his family realize their mistake and fire him, ASAP.

Rooting hard for all three of these young men. They all contributed to our best season in many years.

Frank Izola and Mike Wilbon of PTI agree.

Everything I am reading of Bailey is that he is interviewing terribly. Showing very low BB IQ. He is so talented and his upside is tremendous but is he just going to be an NBA enigma? If this is true I'd be very wary of drafting him in the top 6. I think VJ has #3 and then it's a crap shoot between the Johnson, Sears, Bailey the other dukies the Illinois kid and maybe Dairy Queen...

Haven't seen a kid tank their stock and perception this bad in a long time.
If Ace falls past the Nets at 8, then it’s not his agent. The agent is saving face, because a non high lottery team has made him a promise.
IMHO: Ace can shoot. That’s it. He doesn’t defend, doesn’t move to create space for others and he doesn’t have a handle. He doesn’t have an NBA frame either. Plus he’s 6’7” and not 6’10”.
The Nets should trade 3 of their picks and Cam Johnson to the Spurs for #2 and a bad contract.

And draft Dylan Harper.

If work ethic and doing all the dirty work helps Aaron will make it somewhere in the NBA. Agree that he is better from three than he showed last year and they won’t be as quick to call the ticky tack fouls in the NBA.

"according to his camp, he received starting offers in the $3 million to $4 million range to play for Kansas, Arkansas, North Carolina, Indiana, and other top programs."

Think RJ's camp is doing some serious spinning here about his price tag. If RJ was offered $3-4 million to stay in college, then we must be paying Ian Jackson that much - after all, Jackson was consistently ranked higher than Luis as a transfer prospect. And I don't think we're paying Jackson anywhere close to that.
Just because we didn't want to pay him $3 million doesn't mean other schools wouldn't have jumped at the chance to do so.

Dylan is 6'6". Ace is legit 6'10"
