N.C. State Coach On The Way Out

Gottfried, Romar & Lavin were on same UCLA staff. All can recruit, but not very good bench coaches IMO. Archie Miller, an alum, is great choice, but Ohio State, if they can Matta, could court him as well.
 
NC State is tough job - Duke and Carolina are right next door and suck up all the oxygen. Only a very good coach with a big personality can compete with that - which shows you why Valvano was so great.

It would be nice if he transferred here in his Junior year like his Dad did back in the 83/84 season.

Is Matta, after all he's done there, really in danger of getting canned? If they do, Arch needs to be their first, last, and only candidate.

I guess ego would prevent it, but Gottfried would be a hell of an assistant for any program.

Heard Archie Miller has turned down job in past but who really knows.
 
I don't know how patient the AD at Loyola Marymount is, but Mike Dunlap is finishing his third year and his conference record is 5-9.
 
A little off topic but our initial set up had two recruiters Slice and Matt. Now it seems like Matt is our main recruiter. Shouldn't Mitch be out more on the recruiting trail?

Probably yes, but I don't think that is gonna happen. I personally like the 2 recruiter setup, and my guess is that we will see that sooner or later at SJU. I don't see Mitch being a long timer here. Matt could use another recruiter alongside, and one that gets along a little better with staff.

St. John's is still paying this guy Slice a Kings ransom. How much money do you think they have to spend?

NC State's Mark Gottfried will not return next season, source told ESPN. Will finish out the season.
