Late this morning, MTA Chairman Janno Lieber along with LIRR President Rob Free with the assistance of St. John’s AD Ed Kull held a press conference at Penn Station’s LIRR 33rd Street Concourse to promote and advocate the use of MTA Services to attend the Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden.
Members of the St. John’s Pep Band, Dance Team and Cheer Squad were also in attendance. Heavy emphasis was placed on the year St. John’s is having in the Big East and the Band played a few numbers and the Cheer Squad led a cheer of “Let’s Go Johnnies”.
Ed Kull got a chance to speak and highlighted the team’s season.
In honor of the St. John’s team, the lights of the ceiling of the LIRR Concourse was switched from white to red and white and the countdown for the switch was lead by a poster on this Board. The lights of the canopy of the 33rd Street Entrance will be red beginning tonight also in honor of St. John’s. The lighting will stay this way until Sunday night.
