(MSG) Duke, Sat. Feb. 3, Noon, FOX/570AM

Last time I saw the Johnnies live was when I took my son up to the Duke game in January 2015 (Lavin's last year). We gave Duke all they could handle for the first 30 minutes or so. I'd be thrilled if Saturday's game was that competitive.

Lavin's seniors were fun to watch, but I really enjoyed his first year. they laid the smack down on Duke at MSG, the place was rocking. The win at the Garden @ Vs. #3 Pitt (MSG sounded like SJU's Mullin's heyday, when that sound was daily.), didn't they beat nova in nova that year too?

That was a real fun year. Hoping we can witness that next year when we have an actual bench.

Funny, you mention it, that was the one other game we came back from NC to see. Moved down here in 2011, went back to see Johnnies wipe the floor with Duke in 2012 and back again for the 2015 Duke game. I was going to come up for the BE tournament this year, but decided to wait until next year and make my 2018 sports road trip the Kentucky Derby. Hopefully, next year's team will be a threat come BE tourney time.
 
Wouldn't it be nice if we some how beat Duke , it would make this season seem a lot better.Then since we played many top teams so close, we go into the BET and win it LOL

a little (unfortunate) reality tells me = it would be nice if we keep it within single digits
stating the obvious...
disappointing as this season is - from one perspective it is amazing the close games we have played against teams that are not only better but deeper
in essence we start each and every game with two strikes

The potential final score doesn't scare me as much as Ponds having a big game. Harkless probably wasn't leaving until he played so well against Duke on national television.
 
No matter how well Ponds plays on Saturday, a 6'1" guard who shoots 21% from 3 isn't going anywhere near the NBA anytime soon.

I also argued vehemently that Harkless wasn't going anywhere. I've stopped thinking stuff like this are 100 percent impossible.
 
Maybe if our bench was not so short and Ponds forced, by necessity, to play 40 minutes a game, he would be fresh enough to shoot more accurately.

I have watched every Duke game on TV, hoping of course they would lose. No way Jose can we beat them at MSG. Both Bagley and Carter will "KILL" us. No way Owens can stop Bagley without fouling, too many moves around the basket. And Carter will eat up Clark underneath. Don't get me wrong I want a victory but because of those two talented big men I really can't see it. Hopefully I pray Simon stops Allen (can't stand him).
