Moore Out

Unbelievable. But at least we have Posh back, I'll take that trade and hope El Toro and Roberts can give us 20-25 decent minutes between them. Earlington needs to play significant minutes today and avoid foul trouble.

seems some are
overeacting
no need to feel sorry for ourselves
no guarantee Moore and hid moods would play well
every team
is dealing with COVID "stuff"
Posh if back and capable = huge plus
It's up to our players to grab W
all the best
very nice season and we can make it even more nice

Blessings

Well, the Toro signing might have just became huge. Whatya say big guy
It actually proved to be huge last Saturday.  There was about four defensive possessions, when we needed a stop, and he came through for us.  If he can duplicate his play from last week then we should be fine.

Geez, we and this program can't catch a break.  Hope he is OK, and we did beat them the last time without him.

Here's hoping our kids have a chip on their shoulder and win 1 Moore today

Did anyone else's heart drop at first?

I was at work, listening to the Georgetown/Villanova game, and all I heard an announcer say was a positive tier 1 test among St. Johns, I thought the season was over, it was going to be a replay of last year all over again.

Honestly, if Moore missing the tournament is the worst thing that happens i'll take that. He was kinda in the dog house anyways, so not sure how much he was going to be playing.  If good Earlington shows up and if Roberts just plays half-way decent defensively and makes his wide open dunks, we should be fine.  Depending on how things goes CMA might be able to catch those guys a breather with Toro for 3-5 minutes.

This is exactly why i questioned the move to a Hotel in the city. I had a fear of this happening.

Pretty sure all teams have to be in the hotel in the city per the BE

Rich Reuben reporting that Moore is the only player who has to sit.  Will keep fingers crossed.

Not even needing to go back very far in SJU history, totally understandable why we are all snake bitten, e.g., DJ Kennedy, Obekpa.

My wife is a diehard Dukee (yes, I know, please save the comments).  With that said, I'm really glad that I was (failrly) supportive after hearing the news on her school earlier today.

Why does SJU admin need to always be by the book while everyone else is bending the rules!!!!

Bad Luck for Redmen.  Very bad .. Moore is a valuable player and us playing without him is a minus . Even though we prevailed on Saturday without him . Odd that just he tested positive ?   Let's hope if we get past the Pirates that we don't have others being infected .

FYI Moore will have to have 7 straight days of negative tests before he can travel wiht the team and be eligible to play in the NCAA or NIT tournaments.  Applies to all contact tracing incidents.

Even if he didn't test positive?

Totally.  We should definitely risk exposing others to COVID if it provides us with an advantage in a basketball game.  Good perspective

Yes, we should if he tests negative; a test can be done in 10 minutes, if you want to live a life of no risks then never leave your house or cross the street.

Rapid tests have high false negative rates.  What guys like you don't get is it's not just about you.  If you want to jump off a bridge, more power to you.  The problem with COVID is it puts others at risk.

Asymptomatic

negative rapid tests mean very little when you can pass it without knowing. It’s the best thing to do and I’m sure Moore feels awful. I ended up being negative in my big scare but all I did was worry about everyone around me until my PCR was negative. It was a terribly long 3 days of waiting.

Really not good. We are short in the frontcourt as is and he's our best player offensively around the glass.   In addition this stuff is overboard.  We don't even do this in the hospital to the degree that they do.  Sitting out the tourney because of "possible exposure" is overkill IMO but those are the rules.

agree the rules have been so different for quarantine

Of course , a Covid positive person has to be quarantined  for the required time .  The bigger question is , with the Team being Covid Free all season , how does Moore get the Virus now ?  Did Protocols or Security break down since Saturday ?  It's tough to lose any Player at this time of year . Moore is no exception .  Bad Luck . Hope we can play though it and get to meet the Hoyas again .
