Monte's Guy Federico Mussini

Mussini is our 3rd best guard this year, and deserves a few more minutes than he is getting. Next year he will still be our 3rd best guard as I believe Simon will be mostly used as a small forward. Mussini is vital to our team going forward.

10-15 mins for Mussini, more if he is shooting well would be ideal situation. Only way he is our third best guard next year is if Lovett leaves and that would not be a good thing.

I believe Simon will be mostly used as a small forward.

I actually think he will be the sixth man and split his time pretty evenly between SG and SF. If Lovett goes out, Ponds shifts and Simon comes in. Will also sub when one of Clark or Ahmed sit.

Of course, this is based on all the important people returning.

Assuming all 4 of our guards return, I would much rather have Ellison see more time at the 3 spelling Bashir, and Simon at the 2G spot. We are in desperate of a big athletic guard. All indicators are that Simon will fit that bill nicely.

Would rather see Ellison play the part Mike Reardon did with the old Knicks. Last 2 minutes, give a foul.

Problem is he would probably foul a 3 point shooter.

This is one of the good things Lavin did was start the recruitment of frederico

If you'd have worked Jarvis into that sentence my head might have exploded, really a missed opportunity there.

Is your hatred for Mussini 100 percent non-negotiable, or would you be OK with him as a 8-10 mpg guy next season surrounded by an upgrade in talent?

I don't hate Missini, I just recognize his shortcomings. (Plus he's Italian obviously.) But he's played good minutes lately and I've adjusted my commentary accordingly. Because I describe what I see: I don't have tribal affiliations or otherwise an agenda. Last year - when he was anointed the greatest 30 percent three point shooter in NCAA history - he stunk. This year he's stunk less. Next year I hope he sticks around and stinks even less. I don't see him being a big piece moving forward and think it spells trouble if he is. But I don't hate him anymore than I hate everyone else.

His only shortcoming is that he's not Sicilian

That should absolutely be a Greeting Card " I don't hate you anymore than I hate anyone else."
Maybe the last sentence in a breakup card, or Good luck card to some co worker who you are ambivalent about.

With the difference being foad's read "everyone else" ;)

At the end of last season i created a thread grading Mussini on the type of season he had.

It included a narrative on how, as a euro 2 guard and a freshman, he wascasked to.play point, which is oerhaps the most skilled position on the court. I don't recall him.ever getting stripped, or tied up because of poor ball handling. Hecwore down horribly pkaying almost 30.mo s per game and his shooting soured.

Hete were my main criticisns: 1. Tunnelvision passes tgat were swiped. 2. Trying to shoot off the dribble against quicker and taller opponents who could pressure or block his shots. 3. Taking the ball to the hoop too much, where he would get into loads of trouble.

What was and is there is a gunslinger quick trigger and deadly when open - think lira bill bradliano.

Federico has improved in all of his weaknesses from last season and is being used in a role suited for his game. Hus decisions. Have been much better, and exceot for an occasional adventure in the paint, even those are turning out better.

The Cazzi Rusalo role is perfect for him at this point.

Did anyone ever tell you you're fun?

he had a rough game shooting yesterday but at least he was hustling. He had that one nice save where he ran from side to side on the court trying to get a lose ball. He might be physically limited and if he isn't hot from the field then that negates his main strength but to me at least it looks like he always is trying to put in a lot of effort

Mussini's effort should never be questioned. He has always given 100% despite his physical limitations.
