Molloy, Mon. Nov. 20, 6:30p, FS1, 970AM

I'm glad I watched this game on TV because I would have left in disgust after the first half had I wasted 2 hours of my life traveling to Carnesecca Arena.
The definition of punch-drunk : confused and unable to speak or move normally because of being punched many times in the head. : unable to think or act normally because you are very tired. That would aptly describe both the St. John's team and Chris Mullin's appearance after the first half.
St. John's gave up 35 rebounds to a glorified Catholic high school team in this mismatch of talent but at least Molloy displayed a modicum of offensive discipline in the first half while Mullin's team played ugly street ball hoisting 3's with reckless abandon and showing no interest in playing "team" ball. Mullin pulling 4 of his starters couldn't disguise his lack of inspirational coaching.
The second half was everything fans expected in the first half but I suspect that the sheer athletic superiority had more to do with the dominant play than any coaching adjustment. Still, not being able to put points on the board against D2 Molloy was painful to watch.
Contrast the scoring ability and coaching of Creighton, who have beaten two nationally ranked teams this week and it reinforces the our bubble status playing amongst upper tier D1 teams.
The bottom line is this team looks like it needs more than 2 days to prepare for the next game. A similar effort could spoil man a Thanksgiving dinner.

4-0 heading into the tourney- can't ask for a better record.

Mizzou tied at half to their non-D1 opponent...at least we led at Half...
Not saying I know anything about Mizzu's D-2 opponent but not all D-2 teams are equal just as they aren't in D-1. Big difference between Duke and NJIT no?

This was a meaningless game and a break for the team. I agree that chucking 3’s is not the best strategy especially when they aren’t going in, however there was no reason to expend unnecessary effort with three games in four days coming up.

this game was Molloy's super bowl, it wasn't for us. We played flat. made the adjustments at the half. blew them out. Time to move on. good to get a bad game out of the system.

Water under the bridge now and I guess we didn't recruit him at all but anyone notice the numbers Shakur Juiston is putting up at UNLV ? He had 19 rebounds his last game

This was one of those games where you've got to be happy you got a win and got the bench some minutes. Hopefully, this game will let the team know that they can't mail it in. 100% effort the whole game.

Clark is built like a brick outhouse. He has a feathery touch. And seems to be pretty smart on offense.

So he should be in the post against a man defense all the time, and roaming the baseline of flashing to the high post versus a zone. He has ability. But it has to be drilled into him: YOU ARE NOT A WING.

Unfortunately, that's not Clark's game
Despite his impressive physique, he is more of a wing player than an inside banger
We need Clark and Ali to change their mindset a bit if we are to do well in the BE
They need to rebound more - we can't depend upon Shamorie to be our leading rebounder

I was hoping for energy right from the start. Didn't get it. Can't say why these kids don't get that they are not good enough yet to mail it in. Second half totally different effort. Let's hope lesson learned without calamity. On to Oregon State.
