(Mohegan Sun) St. Joseph's, Wed. Dec. 20, 4:30p, ESPN U, 970 AM

We've turned this into a nail biter. We are going to get fouled and someone is going to have to make both ends of a 1 and 1 for us.

Well friends, we survived the non-conference schedule at 10 - 2. I think we played great at time and managed to win some games where we weren't at our best.

Now, someone find me ten wins in conference.

If we have Lovett I think we win this game 10pts and better

To be fair St. Joe's has been missing one of their better players (Lamar Kimble), injured since the second game of the season.

Fortunate win. We let them stay close all game. Badly played game. Very grateful for the win. Have to play much better than this to make a dent in the BE. Luv Simon, but wondering how many coaches are targeting Simon to foul late in tight games. He must improve his FT shooting.

10-2 is what everyone wanted and we did it the hard way without Lovett. Ponds and Ahmed, Owens and Simon each did some good things today. Not going to be much fun without Lovett in the Big East.

One thing that frustrates me is that there were a lot of St. John’s fans at the game but they were so quiet. They have to get over the PTSD. Providence fans are loud tonight.

Merry Christmas to all.

I"ll take another away game victory. With a 4 point lead and 40 plus seconds remaining we had Ponds, our best foul shooter sitting in the corner instead of handling the ball. Didn't like Ponds defense against Newkirk. Am I wrong or is Trimble's offense only a three point shot. Clark looked out of sync from the beginning. Ahmed's offense helped us in the first half. We really need Lovett back soon. Only losses were against Missouri and Arizona State, had chances in both games.

Agree that Newkirk had a big game and that our defense was spotty at times, although we tightened it when we were down 8 in second half. Yakwe appears to be getting a little more confident offensively with each game; he may not be scoring much but making more assertive moves and doesn't hurt us at all when he is in the game.

There are not many of us who wouldn't have signed up for 10-2 before the season started, so we have plenty to be happy about. Let's hope Marcus returns healthy and ready to go in the New Year if not before!

Not the best game but awesome result! Our RPI is so good now, we only need 9 Big East wins (and assuming a loss to Duke) for an RPI of 36. We'll make the tournament easily with 9 BE wins.

A lot of fans in an empty arena. A lot more fans for the nightcap. We must have played before a couple of hundred people. Last night UCONN women played before a sellout crowd in the same arena.

Well stated Jack. Similar thoughts here. Why was Owens trying to force passes at the end? Ball needs to be our guards hands. Aside from some 3s, Clark looks a bit lost at times. I worry about this team without Lovett and any front court depth. I not on the bandwagon yet that this team can make the NCAA tourney. St. Joes moved the ball really well at times this afternoon. Once again we let the opponent's best 3 point shooter have his way for most of the game.

I know some here are upset we didn't win some of these games more convincingly, but truth be told, all of us would have signed up for a 10-2 record after the first 12 games. Our offensive hasn't quite hit its stride yet, but our defense looks very strong, and that gives us promise that the offense will eventually catch up.

Additionally, it should be noted that of our first 12 games, 7 of those have been neutral court games!!!! (1 was at MSG). I believe playing on the road so much early on positions us even better for the tough road tests ahead.

Didn't see Linus, Lucy or Peppermint Patty listed in the box score either.
