Moe Harkless

Moe Harkless is in line to make 15 or 16 million this year. When that happens, it will be stated that he attended St Johns. Additionally, some knowledgeable basketball people are beginning to see that you may be better off attending a school where you can be an impact player rather than a school where if you are not an instant success, you will be recruited over. Think Isiah Briscoe and Derryck Thornton.
We may never beat out Kentucky and Duke for top 25 players, but if we can get our share of the next level of recruits, we will be fine. I believe that if we can show progress this year, we will attract some notable players in the Class of 2018.

I wish Moe all the very best and hope he makes a fortune and St. John's name is plastered and repeated everywhere but the fact of the matter is that St. John's had nothing to do with him getting to the league. He grew 3 inches after committing to SJU, he got a great deal of pt as 3 players were not eligible, and left school as soon as the season ended to get private coaching in preparation of the draft.
This staff has done a great job in recruiting to date, has two very good transfers for 2017 and a top level recruit for 2018. We are attracting talent. Go from 8-16 wins this season and people will believe the staff can coach , which is really the only question one can have about them. I believe that question will be put to rest shortly.

Harkless is listed on ESPN as the #3 best available free agent at this point, after many players have signed.

Of the Blazers' three restricted free agents, there's been the most buzz around Allen Crabbe. I'd prefer Harkless over the next three years because I think he has more room to grow as a player, if he can become a consistent 3-point threat.

Because of his defense and activity, Harkless was already a capable starter at age 22, despite shooting 28 percent from 3-point range. If he can even hit 35 percent beyond the arc on a regular basis, Harkless could become a league-average starting combo forward.

RFA Moe Harkless has agreed to a four-year, $40M-plus deal to re-sign with the Portland Trail Blazers, league sources tell The Vertical.

From "Blazers Edge" on first preseason game:

Much of the defense-to-offense transition game was instigated by Harkless, who looked to be one of the few players on the floor in true game shape. He won some plays just by simply outrunning his man to the ball and was brutally effective running the fast break. He managed to also back up some of the hype surrounding his developing outside shot, knocking down back-to-back threes during the third quarter.

Throughout the contest, Harkless' defensive versatility was front and center - he began the night guarding Hayward on the wing, and later shifted to fronting Favors in the post. During the third, he brought the Rose Garden crowd to its feet with a monster rejection on Rodney Hood. By the time he checked out of the game, Harkless had effectively guarded three positions and arguably was the Blazers' best defender at all three.
