Moe Harkless Possibly a Knick

Read in Post article that if Harkless wants to go to a contender the Knicks will accommodate him. I am hoping he will opt to stay home and take on an elder statesman role with a team of young kids and 7 #1 draft picks over next 4 years. Mo won't be 27 until May and unless Knicks find a way to screw things up (highly possible as all long-time Knicks know only too well) they should be a playoff team within 3 years (especially with Rose & World Wide Wes whispering in free agents ears). Just send Dolan on a 5 year around the world vacation.

Love that Mo is back home, but not sure I'd wish this on anyone. Knicks have to be fully in the conversation for worst run franchise in any professional sport ever including underwater basket weaving. Why can't we just send the Wilpons, Johnsons, and Dolans to an uninhabited island? NY professional sports are an abomination considering the resources and market here.
Welcome home Mo!!!!

According to the Post, besides Mo, the Knicks get a 2020 first-rounder, a 2021 second - rounder (via the Pistons), the right to swap first-round picks with the Clippers in 2021 and rights to Issuf Sanon, a second-round pick in 2018 who plays in Ukraine.

And of course they can sign Mo or Morris at the end of the year as they are both free-agents.
The swap thing is hilarious. Who on the Knicks thought this was a coup? The chances of SJU winning the BET is better than the Clippers having a worse record than the Knicks next year.

Knicks held Harkless out tonight, for reasons known only to them, since they said he wasn't injured (he did dress), but they didn't need him, as they beat the Pistons 95-92.

That's 4 straight W's for the Knicks, their longest winning streak in over 2 years.

Can't help but wonder if like mentioned he might be working on something with a playoff team.

Which doesn't make sense, since the deadline was 2 days ago. Even if he went to a playoff team, I think he wouldn't be eligible for the playoffs (I believe that's how it works- might be wrong on that).

Pretty sure if player is released and signs elsewhere he is eligible. Again maybe its nothing but since it was mentioned maybe there is fire to the smoke.

*Just found it-Buyout players are eligible for the postseason on their next team, as long as they've completed contract buyouts by March 1.

Well, yes, that would make sense, but then wouldn't they just release him? If that's the case, what are they waiting for?
Harkless out again tonight
Because of Harkless’ cross-country travel across the past two days and lack of familiarity with the playbook, interim coach Mike Miller was leaning toward giving Harkless his Knicks debut Sunday in Atlanta.

Chatter doesn't seem to be going away.

Let's look ahead to the players who are not available right now but could be. Some names to keep an eye on are John Henson, Wayne Ellington, Johnson, Maurice Harkless and Matthew Dellavedova. Any of those names have appeal to you?

Pelton: Harkless would, for sure. He was starting the majority of the time for the Clippers before being included in the Marcus Morris Sr. trade as matching salary. He has hit 37% of his 3s so far this season, though that's out of line with the rest of his career (33%).

I know the Mavericks are concerned about matching up with combo forwards LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard, but I still think Harkless would be a better fit for them than Kidd-Gilchrist because he can offer some semblance of floor spacing. Kidd-Gilchrist is a career 28% 3-point shooter who's never made more than 16 in a season. When Dallas runs pick-and-roll with Kidd-Gilchrist in the corner, expect his man to be planted at the edge of the paint hoping to disrupt any path to the basket.

Do you think the Knicks will buy out Harkless? And what about Tristan Thompson, another player who could undoubtedly help a contender if he hits the market?

Marks: There is a good chance that Harkless does get bought out, but that might not be until the end of February. The Mavericks should be on the phone with his agent, Bill Duffy, checking in on a possible buyout in New York.

I agree with you that Harkless is a better fit than MKG. However, Harkless might have to play the waiting game because of the challenge of getting a decision out of a front office in transition in New York. Does Scott Perry, the general manager, have the authority to execute a buyout? Ideally, yes, considering that it would open up a roster spot for New York to perhaps sign a G League player.

Would love Moe to get bought out. Like a clown, I tuned into the Knicks game last night cause they were riding a 4 game winning streak.

They blew an 8 point lead in overtime. Absolutely inexcusable. They even got a stop up 8 with like 2:30 to go and Elfrid Payton inexplicably pushed the ball on the fast break instead of using clock. Of course he turned it over

So he got traded to the Knicks and got sick.
I don't blame him.
