MIP- Most Improved Player

We can all agree that the Redmen have been playing better collectively as of late during this win streak and even during a few of the close losses. Yet some players have completely kicked their game up a couple notches.

So who do you guys believe has been our most improved player during our hot streak (since the Dartmouth game)?

Strong Arguments can be made for Jordan, Sampson, and CO. But my Vote would go to J. Sampson. His midrange is dropping. He is hitting the glass. His Defense has been superb. Its really close but to me Sampson has a slight edge over the two of them.

Tough choice. You're right. All three have improved. While I think Jordan's improvement may be the most key in terms of turning us around (pg play being so important), I think CO's offensive improvement has been the biggest surprise. It seems to have come out of nowhere. I may be short-changing Jakarr but I think he is just now giving us what we expected from him all year.

I agree with the 3 you mention as candidates, and would probably include Pointer.

I also agree that Sampson has shown the most improvement on a gross basis. But on some level he's simply returning to a level we saw last year and that we expected of him. Which is great.

On a net basis, i would vote CO. He has legitimately emerged as a strong catch and finish guy on the offensive end, which is giving us a new dimension. Very active on both backboards. And he's a defensive anchor. He has shown flashes previously, but he's doing it more consistently and at a higher level than I think we've seen before. That's why I'd go with him for "most improved" during the recent hot streak.

Yea that is true. If I had to pick before the Blue Jays game, I would have gone with Jordan. but Sampsons play on dougie fresh was impressive. Jordan still played well, I think he had 7 assists. CO is so confident now on offense, its scary. Really tough to pick just one lol

there is a difference from being improved and playing with confidence.. I think Sampson is playing with more confidence, and he seems to be a nice kid...I havent seen him add anything to his game from last season. He had the mid range last year, just earlier in the season he was shaky, his average is still down..

The big suprise for me is CO.. He is making nice post set ups, base line screens, demanding the ball down low, sealing guys..He did none of this last season, and his weak side rebounding has picked up.

I cannot say if Jordan has improved, or this has been him just adjusting to the game, and Lavin slowly taking the leash off..Again his shot is more confident, not sure about improvement

Jordan, getting better and better with every game. Next year he's going to be a go to guy you can see it.

Def. I think he may be a go to guy before the seasons end. When the game is on the line we usually run everything through DLO or Jordan.

I think Greene and branch could both get my nod! Both have been very serviceable and have made huge strides ....

Obekpa has made the most improvement bar none thus far. Jordan always had those skills but needed to get comfortable. Obekpa has gone from solely a shotblocker to a guy who has become a threat to score as well as a more versatile defender. I love the improvement I've seen from several players, including D'lo's vastly improved shot selection. Obekpa has made the biggest turnaround thus far in his offensive game. He still has a long way to go there, but now he's a guy that the other team can't just leave alone and forget about at the offensive end.

I've been really impressed with how CO has been carving out space down low and demanding the ball. Even if he's not the focal point of the offense, he's giving us an option that didn't really exist prior.

No doubt Obekpa

He has really been a beast, and above average on offense. The only down side, and I hate to even type it...the better he plays the more likely he will declare for draft.

I don't think it's fair to call one out as the "most improved" This is a complete FULL TEAM EFFORT. These guys are playing their butts off on both ends of the floor!

Sampson hands down. To read it here, he couldn't make a layup. His thunderous put back dunk against Dartmouth woke him out of the doldrums.

CO is vastly improved offensively, but I think would still be stymied by a big, talented, athletic front line. I chalk up yesterday to the competition, but last season he couldn't have done that much.

GG has contributed mightily since then, and I would say runner up.

Jordan is a big contributor, but still I feel he has just scratched the surface and not consistent yet.

Branch improved but now a role player.

Obekpa.

He is everything in the post that I thought coming into the season Orlando would be.

I expected zero offensive output from Obekpa.

To have a player that we can dump it into and something good happen is huge.

I thought Obekpa might reach this point halfway through his Junior year, not now. Chris is ahead of the curve right now. 10 PPG out of him is just gravy.

I laughed at the people who claimed he's 6'7".

Great topic. My instant thought is CO. Not to take anything away from Jakarr but he is pretty much playing how we expected him to play the past 3 weeks. I was extremely disappointed with his development all year but now he's elevated his game. Jordan has improved but again that's something I expected. High recruits like that take a half season to blossom.

The reason why it's Obekpa is because guys very rarely find confidence and a low post arsenal mid-season. He's added a dimension in the block which was sorely missing, if only we could prevent opposing player's heads from punching his elbow every game.

I'd have to say Obepka because with Karr we all could see his huge talent and now he is starting to hustle.

But Obepka for awhile seemed like he thought hoops was all about getting the most blocks. But he is rounding out his game nicely now and can really improve his stock over the next year or 2.

I would vote for Obekpa as well.

And while he isn’t the “most improved” so to speak, there seems to be a much greater consistency to Harrison’s game of late that is making a huge difference in the final outcome, IMO.
