Minnesota, Fri. Nov. 18, 9pm, BTN/570AM

You've jumped the gun by 1 game, Knight. We still have Minnesota on Friday, before this.

Huh?

He initially had this ready for MSU. He slyly changed the header, and info.

To follow suit, I changed the contents of this previous post you are now quoting.

P.S. Knight does a great job providing us with this info.

Gonna be a game. They're improved and more athletic than our prior opponents by far. Coffey is really good, but young. Need to check him. Not worried about our guards. Hopefully our front 3 can step it up.

Historically, Minny has been very good at home in The Barn
Should be a good test for our young Johnnies in their first road game
Smart scheduling to play one on the road before the Battle at Atlantis

Never realized Optimum carried BTN. Channel 247. DVR is all set. Looking forward to this road test.

Is Moose still MIA? He needs to know what channel the games on... for every network.

In addition to first road game, power conference, etc., Minny grabbed 40 boards last night, including 15 offensive (and allowed only 7) against a pretty good UTA team. So this is going to be a significant test, especially up front where we appear to be less certain at the moment.

Do like that they are playing tomorrow and we'll be their 3rd game in 5 days.

Minn and Mich St have some tall guards. Both tests will give a lot of insight on our future esp Mich St who is seriously guard heavy without an active center on their roster. Looking at numbers surprised to see RF is currently our 6th man in terms of minutes played. He needs to show something more to deserve those minutes but overall the numbers are quietly solid. Only one TO for example to go with 3 assists, 4 boards and a steal. If the ball starts to go in for him, he could be solid. For what it's worth Amar is near the top for us in both rebounds and assists by minutes played (last other than Holifield/Williams) and hasn't taken too many shots.
minutes played so far:
1) Lovett [58] 2) Ponds [56] 3) Yakwe [43] 4) Mussini [40] 5) Ahmed [39] 6) Freudenberg [35] 7) Ellison [33] 8 ) Owens [31] 9) Sima [30] 10) Alibegovic [21] 11) Williams [9] 12) Holifield [5]

I can't wait for this one, it's gonna tell us alot where this young team is at.
Someone better light a fire under our bigs asses.

Depth and options with our current roster
Finally!
I guess we could at least be in both games...anyone here expect a W?
Thanks

I'd like to see a W @ Minn. If Bashir and Sima step up I think it possible. Both of those guys have better games in them than we've seen so far

If I'm not mistaken, Simas stats were pretty good for the 15 min of PT he had. The problem is he fouled out. Gotta work on that. 8 pts 5 boards. Not too shabby for 15 minutes.

Agree with you regarding RF Paul. Definitely needs to show more to justify current MPG, but there probably isn't a player on the roster who can help us this year who needs floor time just to get in the flow more than him. Think it's a combination of his not being as ineffective as lack of scoring suggests (as you note) and Staff just wanting to get him minutes for minutes sake.

Have definitely tempered expectations based upon last two games, but still think he's a piece of the puzzle this year beyond just gaining valuable experience for the future. Poised, not prone to force, sees the floor, and can make shots. The drawback besides strength seems to be on ball defense, which hasn't been as fluid as it looked in small sample v. Baruch. As it seems like we are going to be in some variation of full court man most of the time (and I'm a fan of that particularly with this roster), he and Mussini have so far been easy outs where their guy can advance the ball no problem every time. Unless we're going to trap more than we have this really mitigates the effectiveness of the press.

Much of what I've read has Minnesota in the bottom 3 teams in the Big 10 this year so if there's going to be a surprising number of wins this season this has to be one of them.
