Mikey Dixon

Really looking forward to seeing this kid, Figueroa, Heron & Keita on the court with our returning big three. That will be something new and exciting and a welcome relief to the "repetitive chatter" threads. Just kidding (sort of).

Rich Mitchmond engaged in SJU-related basketball activities? I thought that was an urban legend.
Think this kid will be special
He may be ‘special’ if he can get his shot off and has worked on his turnovers.
I think he’s the second guard off the bench, assuming Figgy also ‘sits’ in a traditional lineup , with ‘2’ Bigs.
Otherwise, he’ll be 1st guard off the bench.
Regardless, he should get solid PT.
All this assumes Heron is eligible.

I don't see Dixon having any trouble scoring - question is going to be turnovers and defense.

LOL .....it only took '72 the second post in the thread to hijack the thread to one of his familiar themes.

Lets count how many posts it will take for '72 to skip over the subject of the thread "Mickey Dixon", quote an anonymous source regarding a rumor, and repeat previous thoughts regarding Mike Rice, Chris Mullin, and/ or Mitch Richmond. Very predictable.

You should have just stopped at "LOL". Yes, it was a swipe at our one-on-one training specialist Mitch Richmond who has been training the family dog more than any of our players over the past 5 months.
I'm not sure what "rumor" you are referring to but you can reveal your anonymous source about knowing in July about St. John's not having intentions to hire Mike Rice while everyone here was spinning their wheels. I predict you won't.

You can pm me and I'll tell you whether that legit person is FOS. If it is who I think it is, his only remaining connection to the "program" is a 93 year old coach who should be left alone at this point in the conversation. No one trusts that person with any information any longer. No one!

The person that told Otis this is EXTREMELY connected to the school. I probably shouldn’t have brought it up but it’s a mutual friend of ours and trust me on this his integrity is unquestionable. And Otis just relayed what this person told him and doesn’t want to betray the person by giving his name up. Whether you want to believe him or not is up to you but it’s a super legit person

That's fine and dandy but OTIS shouldn't demand "sources" if he refuses to be part of the process of full disclosure. I don't know about you but if I were a highly respected mod I would have put the endless chatter to bed by simply stating that the decision NOT to hire was made in mid July or so and it would have saved countless key strokes and a few hundred pages of threads. He could have shared this with fellow mods who could have concurred. Instead, what fans were subjected to were insults about opinions about Mike Rice.
I personally think Paultzman does an excellent job of sifting through info and conducts valid inquiries with scribes covering St. John's basketball and if, what this connected person said was true, it validates that the way of conducting business in regards to our program leaves a lot to be desired.
Coaching decisions and the hiring of assistant coaches is under the purview of the head coach. If Mullin supported some form of employment for Mike Rice and he was overruled then it is on the powers that be and not Mullin. If everyone was on the same page all along I'm fine with that however. In the whole process a few people had their chain jerked.
I think it as more like people, like yourself jerking, your own chain.
Al, you do know that "Bovino" in English means bovine as in a bull as in an uniformed bullshit artist?

For your edification here is a time line of the Mike Rice chain jerking. I try to believe what people say here but when they are part of the problem they should not throw stones.

One week ago the honorable otis made this startling statement:

"ps. I was told 6+/- weeks ago by a source that would have first hand knowledge that the decision not to hire Rice had been made months ago by the St. John's Administration; not Mullin."

If otis knew 6+ weeks ago, why did he put other respected posters in position to say the following only a few weeks ago?

Redmannorth:

"Two weeks ? Today is August 8th, his season ended 6 days ago.
As has been said 1000 times, though some posters will never get it or are incapable of of getting it, he was coaching a top 10 AAU team, he could just not abandon the AAU team, if he abandoned the team his players would have no trust in him, players every school wants, it would not be viewed favourably by the new school, it would be used against him by every other school when recruiting in the future, and he needs a squeaky clean rep going forward, we are still paying Slice, we have no AD, contracts take time especially this one which would call for additional protection, drafting amongst lawyers takes time.
As long as this is done before the kids start school this semester all is good.
I the interim Paultzman has said things are looking good and progressing.
Can we all please relax ?
The following user(s) said Thank You: Paul Massell, austour, kranmars, Paultzman, SJU85, redken, Frank61, Storm Tracker, Class of 72, L J S A and 2 other people also said thanks."

Three weeks ago, OTIS, who knew Rice wasn’t going to be hired wrote:

"I can’t understand why Mr. Rice has seemingly not attempted to tamp down discussions on fan websites regarding his possible hire and meeting with StJohn’s Administration as reported on this site since sure seems like Rice or someone close to him is talking to individuals who post details of their discussions. I sure wouldn’t be inclined to hire someone that I thought was inclined to publicize facts or negotiate through intermediaries on fan websites.

So yeah, based upon facts know I hope Mr. Rice gets hired because he can likely add experience to the coaching staff however I can understand If Mullin and others question if Rice’s commitment is only to “Team Rice”."

Two weeks ago OTIS  wrote:

" I have wondered why if Mr. Rice is as much of an overall positive as many of the repetitive posters on this site would have us believe then why another D1 program has not swooped in and already given him an offer he could not refuse.

Yeah, I hope Mullin hires a new assistant and if it is Mr. Rice then that will be fine but it is comical to read some of the posts in this thread.

From all accounts Mr. Rice is doing a solid job of rehabilitating his past poor judgment but let’s not make him into a “messaih” (Beast’s term), I hope he succeeds."

Based upon the aforementioned quotes I suggest anything the honorable otis says on this forum be taken with a grain of salt. If this was not a case of chain jerking I don't know what you, Al Bovino, would call it.

I call it deception.
I think the "Ass of 72" protesteth too much.
Perhaps.
Now does someone have an intelligent retort to the time line?

Are alternative facts acceptable?
