Mike Jarvis’ Tenure at StJ’s as told by Mike Jarvis

Honestly Jarvis era was way better than any era that came after him so far. He took us to the Elite 8. Yes I know not his players he recruited etc etc but I don’t have the hate other posters here have for him.

He had to forfeit his wins and that dropped us out of the top 5 all-time winning programs.

Jarvis could Coach on GameDay. However, you got the sense the rest of it was beneath him.

He could coach one side of the ball on game day, the defense.

However, he was another coach who seemed to feel that, as long as his team played good D, the "offense fairy" would magically puts points on the scoreboard for us. I think he's the only coach I ever saw who actually ran the weave as a planned part of the offense. What did he hope to get out of that? I have no idea to this day.

Another example of a promising coach from a mid-major (Geo. Washington if i remember) who did not pan out.

DA played it as he was the reason for the last St Johns resurrection. Jarvis said that he was approached about the HC job after Fraschilla was fired. He said wow they have a pretty good roster and a good incoming class. He 100% benefitted from Frashilla's team. DA did a bad job making out like it was all Jarvis' doing.

Was interesting to learn that EB and Bootsy had such issues with each other.

I don’t have 53 minutes to waste
I listened to the whole thing, some interesting tidbits but Jarvis 100% hinted towards him being the victim and scapegoat for the failures and issues during his tenure. Said that he could not control what the kids did off the court.
