Was looking at the ESPN top 100 recruits and saw that Dunlap does have a top 100 recruit coming in
If he gets the job, you know there will be a home and home with them in the not too distant future.
Hope he gets hired. Deserves the opportunity. A good guy and a great fit IMO.
Was an assistant at Loyola Marymount from 1980-85.
Going to be 57 in May. How many more chances is he going to have to get a head coaching gig ????
West Coast Conference is very similar to The Big East, in some ways. No football, mostly Catholic schools.

Dunlap is a fine coach, a great tactician, and widely respected as having a deep knowledge of the game.
However, on here, we elevate him to Garry Kasparov status. This isn't to tear him down, but we by all means overstate his value.
As much as we give him credit for 2010-2011, he gets a total pass for 2011-2012, when he was the head coach for all but 4 games. HE couldn't coax Malik Stith to stay, or even give him some minutes even after Nurideen Lindsay bolted and crushed his own career.
So here's the rub: Either you give Dunlap a pass, because the entire roster was turned over, except for Stith, and was short almost all season, or you blame Dunlap for part of the horrible year. If you give Dunlap a pass, then why is Lavin being blamed for that season, when he had cancer and had to fill an entire roster in one recruiting class, including have to balance the scholarships, so he wouldn't be looking at another cliff just three years later?

Ummmm as far as I'm concerned, Dunlap likely OVERachieved with his group in 2011-2012. You can't expect any coach to win more than 6 games in a conference as strong as the Big East was that year with a group of only 6 or 7 scholarship freshmen.
Key ingredients;
@Mike_Schmitz: Caught an LMU 6am practice this morning. Coach Dunalp will have a tough, disciplined group by the end of the year.
@AminESPN: @Mike_Schmitz one of the best run practices I've ever seen. Clear communication, teaching, and hilarious
