Mike Boynton?

Good thought, local guy with a lot of recruiting ties and a class act. OSU struggled this year, but a solid coach with AC experience regardless imo.

He was 12-20 last year.

He is the definition of career assistant.

Forget Cluess and Pitino. If another guy was in the picture. Who would it be in Marillac's world. Playing by the realistic restrictions of course.

Anybody without a great record of head coaching experience and winning should not even be in discussion.

We are at a crossroads and falling into the abyss and can’t rely on just good recruiting reputation guys.

Mike Whoever and anybody else with a crappy head coaching record are a triple No No No.

Marillac wouldn’t have fired and/or forced the resignations of Lavin or Mullin (or Jarvis).

Pitino is the obvious answer. I’m also fine with Cluess after this circus Cragg created.

Since they can’t be selected as per your rules, you have to get someone proven. Boynton has two losing conference seasons in two years and he went 12-20 his second year. He inherited a 20-13, 9-9 team.

Alford and Musselman would have been great. Howland.

So after all the you typed Howland is only 'realistic' name and it's only because he didn't just take a new job.

Who can?

Hard to believe Boynton would leave Oklahoma State for SJU job unless he felt he wasn't going to be around long at OK State based on last year's record.

The need to navigate the NYC basketball landscape is overblown. It's would be nice to grab someone with New York roots, but shouldn't be a prerequisite.

Time to rework his contract with OSU.

Mike Boynton won 21 games in his first year at Oklahoma State. The team struggled last year. However, he is a local person who has recruited nationally. From what I hear, a lot of local AAU coaches would support him. I have also heard that he would be interested in coming to St Johns.

I would rather have a young hungry coach who is willing to work hard to build a program, than a Mid Major coach who has been successful elsewhere. With the right assistants, I believe that he could do a very good job here.

Thanks, Panther. Wtf is Boynton not on the list then? James Jones and Frank Haith over him? Come on...Frank Haith is terrible and is one more season away from being fired by Tulsa for #%#$%'s sake.
