From the Uconn perspective, the last two conferences they would want to be in are the AAC and the Big East. The AAC will be disbanded within two years. For Uconn to join the Big East would mean the Administration’s efforts over the past three years to upgrade their conference profile were a failure. A big fat “F”! Administrations get fired for failures. No one in Connecticut is going to admit that Uconn will never be UVA The Big 10 can name their price, Uconn will pay it. With the Big 10 having their conference tourney at MSG in a few years, the writing is on the wall.
As always, conference realignment creates a lot of interesting discussion.
The Big 10 doesn't care about Uconn's football team. Adding a weak football team to the Big 10's schedule improves the existing Big 10 team's records thereby making their selection for the playoffs more compelling.
The Big 10 is creating a sports network. A critical component of a sports network is viewers. Adding Uconn would add the State's and New England's viewers to the revenue generating formula for the Big 10.
McGarry2's comments on accreditation are interesting. This is the first time I have been exposed to that issue. I will look into it. I will counter with the Big 10 is a billion dollar industry. A lot of rules can be amended for a billion dollars.

News Flash: no one in New England gives a crap about Uconn football!!!! Heck, your stadium in East Hartford goes half filled. Bottom line is the taxpayers in Connecticut should have the Attorney General look into the hundreds of millions squandered on this program. UAB just dropped football after looking at the balance sheet. Uconn should do the same!
If the Big10 would foolishly take Rutgers, they would foolishly take UConn as well.
Short term thinking: We got lotsa eyeballs on our network!
Long term outcome: Nobody wants to watch awful football.
