Memory Lane

Actually I erred. Vickers, a very good player, played with Ruland. Looks like the both finished up in the 79-80 season. Whereas Springer and Burtt arrived in the 80-81 season. So the 4 didn't play together.
Mike Palma, Middleton, Vickers, and Hamilton were the starting five, at Iona, with Ruland, which gave Redmen so much trouble. I don't remember if Springer and Burtt actually played for Valvano.

How Mike Palma didn’t end up at St. John’s when he had Lou C type player written all over him was very surprising.

Speaking of Iona, I am there today for my nephews graduation. Of course it was Iona College now Iona University and the name change is not all that has changed and grown at Iona and New Rochelle itself.

Springer had a great college career which was interrupted midway due to a knee injury causing him to redshirt. All three of his sons played D1 basketball with his namesake at Iona, one for Army and the other one at Tennessee (a first round NBA draft pick a few years back). Valvano left at the end of the 1979/80 season and Springer arrived that fall.

Thanks for clarification Dave. My long term memory is a little foggy at my age, and my short term memory is pretty much non existent lol. Did Pat Kennedy follow Valvano?

In a few years memory lane for most posters here will be off topic because none of us will remember anything
