But I thought this years recruiting class was a lost cause?

Must be a misprint. He probably meant St. Joseph's.
 
I think you were being sarcastic, but it most likely is a misprint, actually.

ESPN and Scout both show him being recruited by St Joes. We're not involved.

Could be wrong, but seems like a misprint.

Those sites aren't always accurate. There is some involvement with the Johnnies and Swift. St. Joe's also had some involvement. It could be a misprint, but I believe the info is correct.

That's right. Is it realistic to think Lavin has a chance to sign someone this late in the recruiting period?
 
This would be huge for us. With Sanchez, Gift, and maybe Sampson departing after this year, this kid would be a huge get. Forwards For next year will be:

Jones
Obekpa


And I guess you could put in Pointer. Our depth down low next year is awful. Swift would be huge, anyone know when he might be deciding?

If Sampson has a good enough season to leave for the NBA then we are a tournament team.

I think we will be a tournament team. Time will tell
 
Today's New York Post: "St. John's made the final 5 for one-time Xavier commit Melvin Swift Jr., a 3 star forward from Houston, along with SMU, Baylor, UMass, and UConn".
 
2 of his last three schools are nationally ranked and his third has Larry brown as coach. Hard to compete with that the way we've been playing and also he probably doesn't see a ton of PT coming his way since it looks like Jakarr is coming for another year.

I think it's much more of the PT issue than anything else. I'm well aware of our struggles, but it's not hard for us to compete with SMU and UMASS; even when they're having a good season or have a marquee coach.
 
If we have a scholarship to "waste", how about taking a flier on some local NY/NJ kid that might not be highly touted but can shoot from the perimeter?

We redshirted Felix. We have athletes coming back next year.

How about diversifying the portfolio for a change.

While I agree with the concept I would say no, if that makes sense.

The 'flier' is going to be someone like Adonis. And we will still need Gift minutes from him next year. The Sanchez ship is the vital one. Then the Marco one I'd rather bag it until 2015.

Seriously I don't know of anyone out there. Then again HS season just started.
