McD AA Team

Interesting;
@AndrewGruman: Henry Ellenson is Marquette's first McDonald's All-American since 1982. #mubb

@ChrisNovakSBN: Jalen Brunson (@jbcrossover5) is the seventh McDonald's All-American for Villanova since Jay Wright took over as head coach. #NovaNation

@ChrisNovakSBN: The previous six: Jason Fraser, Scottie Reynolds, Corey Stokes, Maalik Wayns, Dominic Cheek, and JayVaughn Pinkston. #NovaNation

@michaelsobrien: Charles Matthews and Marcus LoVett have both played well enough to make it this year. But they probably didn't have the 4 year resumes.

Felipe, most overrated player in the history of basketball

Jumping in late on this, but flaws aside, no one could guard him in the Rice games I caught.

I'm sure Tarik is a hell of a guy, but if we had managed to pair Reid with Felipe, his whole career would have been different.

Boy, we could've had 2 with Briscoe and Diallo, and now there's a chance we may have none.

No one could guard him because he was years older than everyone else. It caught up to him in college

Caught up with him in college. He scored 1,900 points in his college career. Was he Michael Jordan? No, that was silly. But has All BE third team as a frosh, All BE first team as a Senior and had okay soph and jr years. If he was the 75th rated player in his class his career would be deemed a success.

Even in college he was a physical specimen who could out run and jump most but he, like so many others we discuss ad nauseum, wasn't a great shooter and didn't have one special basketball skill that could separate him from the pack. He might have scored more on the break or alley oops with better PG's but his shooting was what it was.

He played in 250 games over his four year career in the NBA and started 80 before blowing out his knee. So, yeah, everyone caught up to him. LOL

I was a senior in high school when I played against him, he was a sophomore. And he is older than me. He dominated at Rice because he was an 18 year old sophomore.

He wasn't built like a man in high school, though. And lots of teams in the CHSAA had guys 6'5".

That was a hell of a team. And they played their roles perfectly around him, too.

As I recall FL had a good end to his last NBA regular season and a good start in the next years exhibition season and was in line for a decent NBA contract when he blew out his knee which basically ended his playing career.
