Max Hoetzel, (Indiana verbal)

We'll see what he can do when he gets to the NEPSAC. He's not wolfinger. Real good shooter, decent athlete. Not sure yet what he can bring. Lavin didn't offer, just wants to show interest. It doesn't hurt that he will be on Okonoboh's team so Lavin can work on Goodluck over the course of the season. I get feeling Lavs really wants Okonoboh. If we have a good showing, maybe we make inroads by the spring. I believe that Lavin has already been in contact with Okonoboh quite a bit.

Okonoboh's a goner.

I think Lavin is trying to hook a '16 recruit at W&M. Mustapha Heron plays there and is the 13th ranked player in the class of 2016. He's the prize.

If Lavin and the staff can show some face to this Hoetzel kid and the W&M coaches while laying the groundwork for Heron, I'm all for it.

Mustapha Heron:

I'll just make a separate thread for him because I'm sure we'll pursue.

"St. John’s is now recruiting forward Max Hoetzel, a perimeter threat who attends Massachusetts prep school Wilbraham and Monson. San Diego, Pacific and Loyola Marymount all have offered the California product."

This guy is so skilled for a guy his size. Shoots it, handles well, post moves, and he seems to pass pretty well.

If we get a class of him, Rodriguez, and De La Rosa I would be very pleased.

That would be a very slow and skilled class.

One article says he is still growing. A 6 foot 10 outside shooter would be intriguing.

Give me skilled every time. Although I don't think hoetzel and Rodriguez are that slow.

De La Rosa may be turn out to be OK speed wise if he gets to 240 or so.

Hoetzel is slow for the three but more than fine for the four. I like Rodriguez but he looks like he's got bad knees or something. He does not have a smooth stride while he runs, but he's silky smooth with the ball. The big boy is a load...I wouldn't expect Lavin to take all three.

If we start recruiting him harder I fully expect a couple of Hoetzel-Nowitzki comparisons on the boards

Inevitable. Plenty will also have starting over Dom or Sampson right out of the gate as well.

If we sign this kid I know one thing we will lead the NCAA in...........white guys named Max! :)

Guess he may be 14 kid;

The Hoosiers are recruiting him for 2014, and Hoetzel said he would be ready for the challenge.

It was worth taking a shot at this kid. It's tough recruiting against Indiana.

Indy offered him for 14

“@JordanLittman: Can confirm that Indiana has offered Wilbraham and Monson forward Max Hoetzel (@YungHoetz) for 2014. #iubb”

Since transferring to Wilbraham and Monson Academy (Mass.) from Calabasas (Calif.) High School this past summer, Max Hoetzel has seen his recruitment take off.
Well, it’s reached another level.
Indiana has offered the 6-foot-7 forward as part of its 2014 class, only weeks after discovering him while recruiting his WMA teammate, Goodluck Okonoboh. The offer also comes just after Indiana coach Tom Crean and assistant Kenny Johnson visited Hoetzel in Massachusetts this past Tuesday evening.
On Saturday, Hoetzel, along with his parents who will fly in from California, will make the trip to Bloomington for an official visit that will last through Monday.
“I would really, really consider it, especially since it’s Indiana,” Hoetzel told Inside the Hall on Oct. 14. “The past, the program, the coaching, I’d definitely really consider it.
“But it’s all about the fit. I want to come in somewhere where I can really play and exploit my strengths. If that does happen with IU, it will be wonderful.”
In recent weeks, Hoetzel has also been offered by St. John’s, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island and has received additional interest from Florida, Harvard, Iowa State and Kansas.
The three-star prospect reclassified to 2015 when he transferred to WMA, though he can still graduate this spring in time to join Indiana’s 2014 recruiting class.

I wonder if these types of players stock is going up in conjunction with the new rules. In any event how Hooper does should be interesting and perhaps make St John's more appealing if he makes a name for himself after being buried on the bench at Harvard.
