Matt A/Recruiting junkie!

Should be a fun year...when's the last year we had this much talent and promise? We are back on the Dividion I map!! Don't need a GPS to find us any more
:cheer:

Love your optimisim General but not sure we are back. We have exceeded expectations recruiting wise and have gone 15 odd months with no negative publicity. We need to avoid further negative publicity and come close to playing 500 ball before I can say we are back.

Busy week of recruiting for #sjubb Matt Abdelmassih will see Anthony Nelson of South Kent, Posh Alexander of Our Savior Lutheran today

"Nelson is a point guard in the class of 2018 from Kentucky who plays at South Kent Prep School in Connecticut. According to Verbal Commits, the 6’4” Nelson holds offers from Manhattan, VCU, DePaul and now Rutgers. Associate head coach Karl Hobbs has a good relationship with South Kent and it’s likely they will try and get Nelson to campus during the season."

From "On the Banks" Rutgers blog.

It appears that Jahvon Quinerly, excellent 18 PG from NJ, may be a "difficult get", so Nelson may be plan B perhaps.

Sorry RN, I have to agree with SSG that we are back on the "D1 Map". Don't think that people aren't taking notice of what's been going on around here on the recruiting front. Of course we still need to get back on the map on the court, but I have no doubt that will come in due time. In spite of our mediocre success the past few years, I don't think that there were to many people in and around college basketball who felt that our program was headed in the right direction. I firmly believe that there are many who now feel that way,

If you are listing top 100 players and not just the top 5 Yakwe and Lovett were also in the 80s and 90s and the experts have said that had Richard F played in the States he would have been a top 40 player. On paper the staff deserves an A for recruiting , now they have to get that talent to play together this season and going forward and show that there can be a noticeable improvement in the win column

Yakwe had just cracked the ESPN 100 at #99 when he committed before reclassifying and getting here early. I read a Twitter Q & A with Biancardi where someone asked him about Yakwe and Biancardi said that based off that monster summer he'd just had (I remember he supposedly dominated at the Peach Jam) that Yakwe would have jumped into the 50-60 range if he hadn't reclassified. Richard F looks great. I"m really excited to get to watch this kid play. I really had no idea about him when he committed and assumed he was just a skinny kid who can shoot. Definitely looks like he could be alot more than that. Exciting

Garrett was 99 on the last rankings I could find and so was Yawke who someone else mentioned. I think Lovett, Ahmed and Freudenburg are all top 100 talent, I was just showing that we have had some highly ranked players per ESPN which I am not endorsing as the best metrics.
