Pretty hard to see us turning the season around at this point and I thought Hall game was a must game; but beating Marquette at home tonight is the ultimate must game, otherwise best-case scenario is we will be fighting with Hall & Butler for 7th place and an outside shot at an NIT berth. Glad that at least it's an early game.
Basically, these next two games against Marquette and PC are must wins. If we lose both, that gives us 5 losses and they still have to play UConn twice, Creighton twice, and Marquette and Xavier on the road. Even if they win the rest of their games, that’s 11 losses right there, below 500 in conference and no Dance. These next two games are essentially the season

Zach B: "Heard the reason Andre Curbello and David Jones didn't start the last game was disciplinary issues".

The wheels are really coming of the bus
Not surprising. These 2 are probably driving the bus on tuning out the coach. They are the new guys and are probbaly thinking, "What is with this coach? Hes awful". And it is now spreading throughout the team.

I dont blame either of them. They are right.

The season is over. Has been since the Nova game. We are not beating either of those teams anyway.

To even mention the dance at this point is silly. That also has 0% chance of happening. Its over until this coach is gone.

Neither of the guys they left at their last stops were X's and O's geniuses though. Being mic'ed up is obviously a very small sample, but best huddle adjustment Curbelo has heard in a while was honestly probably from John Buck.

In retrospect, Anderson probably should have kept them on the bench. Bringing them in after just a few minutes makes no point at all. Yes they probably would have lost by around 30 but if it was not for Storrs last second three point basket, it was a 25 point loss anyway.

Honestly tonight may be less about Anderson and if our team collectively wants to save the season and show some fight. They know they got embarrassed on Saturday. Does this team show some resolve and pride and brings the fight at home.

If they roll over and die (again) it's curtains.

Dave you said it was curtains if we lost to Seton Hall.

I get that people are feeling pessimistic about this year's team and who wouldn't be based on our recent play. That said, I, personally, am still going to the games, rooting like hell for our guys and am not giving up on the season. To do otherwise would go against my approach to be a loyal fan of the team. To me this is not the same as professional sports team, where the players are being paid exorbitant sums of money to play a game that many would do for nothing. For the most part, Mike Anderson's teams have played their hearts out during his first three seasons as coach here.

It is my hope that somehow a light bulb goes on and that this year's team learns how to leave it all out there on the floor. Posh Alexander played with such intensity during the past two seasons that it was thrilling for me to watch him play. I can not think of a player who more embodied the blue collar work ethic of simply outworking his opponent. How can I as a fan not root for him and the team to recapture that type of magic. As some have said the hope of making this season's NCAA tournament is severely in peril. However, if the team still fights every game and plays hard from the opening tap to the final whistle I will be satisfied, regardless of the wins and losses.

I, too, will continue to watch every game and root with all my heart for our kids. That will never stop no matter what our record is.
However, I still call things as I see them and, right now, things look pretty gloomy for St John's basketball
Here's hoping for the winds to change in our favor. But I'm not counting on it to happen anytime soon.

Recapture some of the magic? God bless you ghostzapper God bless you!

If we win is Coach off the hot seat?
Not getting fired during season
Not making the tournament at end of season SHOULD convince both parties to go in another direction.
My thinking is if Anderson should be able to keep that never had a losing record thing alive I think he may be able to parlay that into a job somewhere down South. Then maybe school goes after Pitino and everyone wins.
If team totally goes into disaster mode then Anderson probably has no other options and school would be forced to have to fire him.
Not sure the school has the stones or $ to do that. And unfortunately that is the most likely outcome that I see for the remainder of the season.

It’s not looking likely but they can still salvage the season if they start winning some games. Seton Hall was a bad loss but at least it was a road game for NET purposes. Xavier was a missed opportunity for a Q1 win at home, now it’s likely (hopefully not) they get the sweep at their place. Even with all that a win today would be a Q1 win and we can start to have some hope again.

Anderson shaking things up was a step in the right direction. He should keep that going except swap Jones and Wusu in the starting lineup. Shot making hasn’t been a strength so far, go big and hit the offensive glass for second chance points. Soriano/Stanley/Jones is a big frontline and Posh has always been a good rebounder for his size. Call me delusional or an apologist or whatever but until it’s mathematically over I’m still hoping for the best.

I want to believe that the team is not as bad as it has shown thus far, and that at some point, we show up. It would be nice if tonight is the start of the improvement we need. I am not one to root against our team because I want to ensure a coaching change. At this point, I think we are going to need that, but I will still root for these guys regardless.
They just have no outside shooters. We also have no discipline for running plays. It is just run run run and do a layup (many of which we miss- have you noticed>?) It will be the turtle versus the hare. LOL I just hope they dont run us out of the arena

Even with that said, both had very good games against SH. That shows they responded.
