Marquette Game

speaking of Max Hooper, he got plenty of minutes last game, as far as im concerned he didnt maximize those minutes. He is not in there for defense or to run the offense, he is in there for one reason only, SHOOT the 3. He needs a quicker release and to create his own shot. Perfect example is how Creighton's Dougie does it. Just my two cents....
He is out there for one reason,to shoot the 3. Plays have to be run for him and team mates have to look for him when he is open.If he can start making his 3 s ,things will open up for everybody. But,he can't make a 3 if he is wide open and no one passes him the ball.

Tired argument. He's gotten 10x more of a chance than Marco Borgault, who is overall a better basketball player. Everytime you think of saying this again, think of Max curled up in a ball with 20 seconds to go and costing us the Providence game all by himself.

There was a kid we had just a few years ago who transferred out who could actually hit shots when they counter. HE went out west, and really didn't distinguish himself there, but didn score more points. What was his name?

Marco is not a better player than Hooper.

Larry Wright, saved my life. No - wait. That was Barry White.

PG IV refuses to pass the ball to him regardless of how open he is.

Not a day goes by that posters don't fantasize about their illusions of Max Hooper.

Incidentally Max doesn't even have the best 3 point percentage on the team but then again, why let facts get in the way of illusions.

Uh he does. I would think your smart enough to realize Marco who has taken a grand total of 6 this year is really not the best % shooter on the team.

his 39% is the best on the team for anyone that's taken more then 10 shots. You don't wanna include someone that went 1 for 1 do you?

Yes! Nice job

I also think there are a lot of posters who think that Hooper is the reason we lose, the minute he enters a game. He played a few minutes against Creighton and shot 1-2 but all anyone wants to talk about was the one play that McDermott took him to school. McDermott took a lot of the team to school on Thursday. I think he should be used situationally and maybe he can improve his percentage closer to 45%.

I'm not saying Max is a savior. I'm saying we need someone who can hit the 3. If he's out there ,design plays for him and pass him the ball when open. If not keep him on the bench.

Larry Wright. IMO, he was a much better outside shooter an ballplayer overall than anyone we currently have off the bench.

Not claiming that Marco is even a better shooter. I said IMO he was a better overall player. He can put the ball on the ball, take it to the basket, drive and dish, and mixes it up under the boards. Good enough to see minutes? I wouldn't go that far - but better overall player, yes.

@SJUCoachLavin: Last 5 gms we’ve been pressing, it has been paying dividends. Challenge when we don’t score and are unable to set the press. #SJUBB

@SJUCoachLavin: Marquette is a very aggressive, athletic team. [Davante] Gardner is the nerve-center of the team and everything goes through him. #SJUBB

@SJUCoachLavin: Equivalent of a PG at the C position and one of the more intriguing talents in the #BIGEAST. We expect a very competitive game. #SJUBB

What do you expect him to say? They suck and we're going to win by 20?

Could it be possible that the post move Obepka made vs Creighton with his back to the basket moving to his left and banking in an 8 footer is a sign of things to come?
He made it look so easy and for a team so offensively challenged in the half court it would be a dream come through.
I hope both his and Jordan's minutes and responsibilities increase for the rest of the year.

Uh, yes he does; the only person more dedicated to posting about a player was Bobre with Sean Evans. Of course Evans could do no wrong while Hooper can do no right.

I expect him to say nothing. Nothing. He is 2 and 6. Stop talking, just go out and get the win.

You do realize that there are pre-game press conferences and he is obligated to sit and answer questions, don't you? All coaches have to per their obligation to the conference, their school and the media outlets that pay to cover them. You think he runs around looking for someone to make gratuitous statements to?
