Marquette- 2nd Game

Wednesday March 4 - 9pm start
TV FOx Sports 1

Marquette, after a 2-2 start has now lost 10 of its last 11 Big East games. The travel to Providence Monday which will be a very difficult game for them.

Among their many deficiencies is poor coverage of the three allowing the highest 3 pt shooting % in the league.

I don't like this game which pits two teams going in opposite directions. A win would allow them some consolation in beating and perhaps derailing our tourney hopes. I hate to play wounded beasts in their own jungle. I don't think they will roll over on their own, and hope we stampede them . With Branch hurting, CO gimpy, and Dlo less than 100%, this won't be easy. But, hey, has this entire season been easy? Have our guys come this far with seniors in their final moments to be denied? Full throttle, leave it all on the court, then breathe easier.

they play PC this afternoon.

We barely escaped alive when we played them at the Garden so I hope our guys aren't overlooking them. Harrison had an awful game shooting 3-18 and after yesterday he's due for a big bounce back game. He needs to stay out of foul trouble. All of a sudden that's become an issue with him

Always a tough place to win at. We need to keep the foot on the accelerator as they say. The way I see it, we will be playing with house money against Villanova, if we can pull out a W at Marquette.

In contests like this, stating obvious, go with the hot hand, especially seniors. That said, nothing is easy in Big East. Been a while but "Big Mo" is on our side. Let's continue to ride it.

Expecting lots of Greene/Pointer family and friends behind our bench.
They showed very well yesterday and can drive to this one.

Carlino is back, had a hot night against us. Stay close in his jock. Obekpa should handle Fischer. Let's win the next two. And why not?

Actually watching Marquette v Providence right now. I have a lot of interest as we play Marquette on Wednesday. On top of that I just bought two tickets to Friday night BE Semifinals. I guess most likely opponent is the Friars. Of course that could change. I am hoping (praying?) that Redmen make semifinal as that is the only session I can really get to. Damn you work. Of course if we make the Finals...

Carlino had a very nice shooting night versus SJU last time out......

However, Pointer shut him down once Lavin switched up the defensive assignments. pointer should atart the game covering Carlino

Providence's zone has been very effective against them. If we zone, it goes without saying that you stick to Carlino like glue and make the PG (who doesn't like to shoot) and some of their other young guards hit jumpers. If we go man, make Carlino put the ball on the floor and guard the three point line. Everyone in the paint rebounding like yesterday, to minimize Fischer' sand Taylor's damage.

All the good vibes go away if we take a loss here. This is a bad team and a lot of bubble teams will make moves in the next 2 weeks. I don't want to be looking over the shoulder from now till March 15th. Would much rather win Wednesday and know the rest of the season consists of house money games.

Carlino had a nice 5 minute run in the second half where he hit I believe three straight 3's. Then he got bottled up. Before and after he didn't do much damage.

Yes haha Marquette. We are good with potential to be very good. Three things on my mind are beating Marquette, hopefully continuing to peak at the right time and avoiding a DJ Kennedy type injury right before NCAA's.

As I've said before, I think we are probably in regardless. However, if we lose out I think we would be in a PIG which isn't good. Most people don't even have their brackets filled out when those are happening.

Winning vs. Marquette is important in avoiding this because @ Nova will be very, very difficult and the BET game will be a challenge no matter who we face.
