Mark Jackson on Chris Mullin

Mike Moses did start over Mark. I always thought that Mark should have had more playing time as a freshman, especially against the taller Georgetown team, But that was Coach C's style. Mark also shot more than Mike. Both were good players.

Mark was in the starting lineup from about January to the end of the season of his freshman year. He and Moses started at guard, with Chris (moving from the backcourt), Jeff Allen and Bill Wennington up front. Mark and Jeff replaced Willie Glass and Ron Stewart who started at the beginning of the year.

Chris also missed a few games early in the season due to tendinitis in his ankle. Bob Antonelli started those games.

Have zero recollection of Bob Antonelli, but I remember the change Louie made to the starting lineup, with, as you noted, Mark starting alongside Mike Moses and Mullin replacing Willie Glass in the forecourt. That was a mediocre 18-12 team that was lucky to get an NCAA bid. They were a 9 seed and lost in the first round to 8-seed Temple (with Terence Stansbury) 65-63.

Mullin missed one and one before Stansbury shot

Started 11-1, losing to NC. Went 1-7 next eight games, 6 of those losses by a total of 16 points: by 2, 2, 1, 4, 1, 2, 5. Good times.

Won at eventual national champion Georgetown (I think they were ranked #2 in the country at the time) late in the year. That, combined with our BE Quarterfinal win over BC (that was probably a play-in game, for all intents and purposes) is probably what put us over the top for a bid that year.

If memory serves at one point Chris averaged more than 40 minutes /game because of the overtime games we played.
