Mark is one of the finalists for the Sacremento Kings head coaching job
He did a great job at Golden State and is most deserving of another opportunity
Best of luck, Mark!!!

I’m happy for Mark because you can tell he desperately wants to coach but man the Sacramento kings are a terrible terrible terrible organization to work for. Getting Fox and Sabonis to play defense in itself is a fulltime job.

Plus their owner (Vivek) legitimately believes allowing one player to stay at the end of the court (for a guaranteed bucket) and playing 4 on 5 defense is a great strategy.

Good luck Mark.

So true! Jax has such a good gig with the broadcasting I wonder if this is the right opportunity. I mean Jeff Van Gundy could have had other jobs but you get paid to call hoops games without the stress of relentless second guessing. I think he’s also a good listen and can live where he wants.

Mark is a great guy. We grew up together, both ended up at St John’s. 2 trivia facts: 1) I took the photo of Mark that appears in the 1985 yearbook, inside the front cover. He is standing in front of (then new) Bent Hall.
2) Mark was an overweight kid that was literally the last guy selected for pickup games in O’Connell Park. Then one summer, the weight disappeared. Then his game blew up in high school!

I was hoping to get him back at SJU before Lavin / Mullin, but was told he’s a bit weird.

To quote charles barkley, the Kings are a turrible organization. I live near Sac town and they have the longest drought of any team not making the playoffs. 18 years. Lots of coaches die in Sacramento. Hopefully Mark is smart and passes on this one. He can do much better than this.

He hasn't been a legit candidate for any search since being fired. I don't think he can afford to pass.

weren't there videos of Mark preaching on street corners, and sounding very odd back a ways. apropos of the 'little weird' remark.

sidenote, i was in front of him on the line at a Home Depot once and nodded and gave him the thumbs up. I think he liked it because nobody else know who he was.
