Marcus Evans Transfer

Transfers are great because they add talent and experience plus they don't scare away high school recruits as much as other high school commits do.

What is a High School recruit? :)

Haha when the time comes I guess. But honestly assuming we do land an immediately eligible big, I think our '17 additions are perfect. 3 guys from 3 classes all filling different needs.

Yeah a nice mixture would be ideal....whatever.

If Lovett stays and eligible big comes yes I think we are a tourney team next year. If not then I think there would be some pretty valid Mullin questions.
To me Simon is the X factor.

The targeted big is a grad transfer who can play right away.

Do you mean generally or that they have a specific target?

Specific is my read.

Was told by someone pretty reliable that Matt had two quality guys that would have to sit out and one big that could play right away pretty much in the bag. Have you heard similar?

Of course as we all know there is officially only 1 available scholarship for next year right now so after adding one transfer for each additional someone's gotta go. I'm sure the staff and some insiders here have an idea of who that might be, but I am/was hoping that things remained positive with Marcus.

I know there are posters against the strategy, but if he can keep pulling transfers I'm all for it. Only one team can win it all, so we may as well be exciting like Iowa St. under Hoiberg in the meantime. Would much rather lose exciting than lose painfully.

I would just hope that the transfers don't prevent us from pursuing more long term (better?) options. I agree with the approach until we can better balance our recruiting. At least I am thinking we need to show better recruits stability in the program?

I'm all for the strategy as long as it's a mixture of grad transfers and underclassman transfers. We get the veterans for a year that won't scare away high school recruits, and you get guys that have a taste of D1 basketball with a year of practice and improvement with our team.

The awesome thing about transfers is they have 1 year to practice and gel with the team behind the scenes, and of course improve during that year. In the cases of Simon and Clark, we got two guys recruited by two of the top teams in the nation, and who were both highly ranked. If we can continue bringing in guys of that caliber, can't be upset one bit.

Two spots open with departure of sima and brown, no?

I know I am getting old but I don't know who Brown is.

Regardless there are 12 scholarship players eligible to return provided they want to and their scholarships are renewed.

Got it. See I told you I'm old but it was never explicitly stated where his ride was coming from and then after Sima left he was in the same slot til the arrest.

And.....we have a winner for "Post of the Night". Congratulations to the newly returned Moose.

Paultz, any idea if we have a decent in with Evans or is it just a shot in the dark?

A shot is my guess, no real insight other than staff must feel they have one.
