Malik Ellison

NCJ, I was actually referring to Owens (who I thought Marcus was referring to, even tho this is an Ellison thread). I have no reason to quarrel with or question why Ellison left (from either side). I appreciate that he came here when we were down and helped us get back on our feet. I agree he would have had limited minutes, especially how the roster has developed, so it makes sense for him to have moved on. With respect to Owens, I believe he left a better opportunity for a worse one. Sorry for the confusion.
I was also referring to Owens, sorry for diverging from thread topic. Ellison did fine by leaving. He would have lost most of his minutes here. Owens we really could have used....
BINGO!!
I think that Ellison left because saw LoVett, Ponds and Simon and saw the writing on the wall
He wasn't going to start and his minutes were going to be cut significantly
Owens could have stayed and played alongside Keita, as they have different skill sets
But I think he wanted to be a bigger part of the offense
With Ponds, Heron, Simon and Clark on board, that wasn't going to happen
He would be a complimentary piece, not a focal point of the offense
NCJohnnie, I wasn't trying to throw shade on the topic. As a matter of fact, I was looking at box scores of USC looking to see what (if anything) J'Raan Brooks did. He's the player we recruited and then he decided not to come. He didn't play. I was just curious to see if he was as good as some speculated at the time. My point is more player transfers and movement are now the norm and I expect it. I certainly don't lose sleep anymore. I would guess a couple of our current guys will leave after this year. I just expect it. The four year kid in college ball is more the exception than the rule or at least that is how it feels!
Brooks is Injured

I agree with this. I do think Owens is in a good situation, but given our current roster, I think he would have had a better senior experience here.
He did have a good senior experience at STJ. He was just looking for a change for his Grad Student experience., ;)

PS to JohnnyFan, pay up or I'm suspending your transaction and roster movement privileges. LOL

Thanks, I couldn't find anything on the USC website.

Through first 4 games Malik leading Pitt in minutes played (28 pg) averaging 10 ppg and 5 rebounds. Good kid who appears to have found a good spot for him. Hope he has a good year.

NEarly all D1 players have NBA dreams. In the documentary Hoop Dreams, they asserted that just about every college player harbors NBA dreams.

But even apart from that, most guys just want to be rotations players first, and Ellison has found that at Pitt. Here he would be far behind the top 6 guys, and would have had to compete against Dixon and Trimble for PT.
