Madison Square Garden/NIL

I don’t know the answer but would guess there are restrictions on NBA teams and owners/affiliates contributing to specific school NIL within the NBA rules ?

It's not like that money would influence where a kid would play. He either gets drafted or he's a free agent. And if he's a free agent he can sign wherever he wants anyway.

Would be worse for a Repole for instance to start sending a ton of NIL to Montverde. But even then, how would that be illegal in NIL era?

Great idea. Just doing some quick math, it does appear that dropping a million or two to solidify a top 10/25 team would be worthwhile for MSG. We saw just a couple weeks ago that we added the Seton Hall game for instance. If that game is 75% full and the average customer pays $75 (tickets, food/drinks, etc.), then that's over a million in revenue right there. I may be too conservative in that guess, too. Not factoring in expenses, but clearly will be in the green otherwise the game wouldn't be played there.

Add a few more games, sell out games like Creighton that before never were close to sell outs... and yeah this could work (as long as it's allowed of course).

I thought we rented out the garden for a fixed amount per game. Our money is made by # of tickets sold minus rental fees. We get more revenue if we sell more tickets than cost to rent. Garden gets fixed fee plus concessions. If Garden has open dates, then they can increase rental revenue by giving us more dates.

That being said Dolan is a lousy businessman, who screwed 2 professional teams' success and is now fighting bankruptcy issues vis-a-vis MSG networks that has outstanding debt of $829 million and could be forced into bankruptcy per the SEC.

I am hardly a fan of Dolan. But to be fair, the University and the Garden has built a nice relationship that has made money for both parties, and it will only improve next year.

From what I understand, while we usualluy have a rental arrangement, this game isn't. Revenue sharing Saturday.

Seton Hall game attendance looking good purely based on TM. North/South bridges and 400s left for two seats. Do know as a fact they're holding tickets for STJ employee discounts and other things. But that selling out would be incredible.
