Loyola-Chicago
After Moser's 15-17 and 8th place finish in year three Rambler.com was ready to run him out of town. Loyola's very own class of 72 was commenting several times on a daily basis about their dire situation. Posters wondered why anyone would play for this nobody when Hall of Fame coaches where being hired to head up other programs. It was really turning negative during the off-season when the few old guys with nothing to do during a cold March took it out on Porter. Why wasn't he featured in the recruiting web sites hunting down kids? The best anyone could say was that year four was the key.

Then he won and the posters jumped back on the wagon, except for one or two disgruntled guys - even the great Porter Moser can't win over everyone.
I like that storyline 72!;)
When that happens at St. John's maybe we should have a 72 class reunion with Loyola 72. :p

How much would a Final Four run be worth to Loyola-Chicago in publicity? 12 years ago, a George Mason professor concluded his school’s run to the Final Four was worth $677 MILLION in free advertising.

Unfortunately an accounting professor at St. John's produced a paper under the sponsorship of President Bobby that concluded that if we pay non-market rate for coaches we could save $1 million per year over 6 years. If the incumbent coach seeks a raise we fire him going into the last year of his contract and just hire the cheapest candidate possible. Repeat in 5 year intervals. That professor concluded that ads on NYC buses was sufficient as we are New York City's team. Unfortunately, a professor at NYU concluded in a different study that NYU was NYC's school followed by Columbia and that St. John's was Queens's school.

My history is spotty, but I think he was either a ‘founding father’ or a ‘wannabe’ who hung out with George & the other Big Guys. Why can’t we find ‘Big Guys’?...!!!
