Hearing it's "unlikely" Marcus LoVett will play out west this week for St. John's. Should be back for Iona game though. #sjubb

heal up Lovett...

and let's hope we still do no worse than splitting the west coast trip.

Bad news, but let's play the games. You never know. Just got to play smart and tough. But not the best news for a team 7 - 8 deep, but let's do it.

Let's get a split out west and have Marcus back strong for Iona & St. Joe's...

We knew it was unlikely that we were going to get through the entire season without an injury. It is tough sledding without Marcus in tough games. I hope we have enough to beat Grand Canyon. We need to play a solid 40 minutes and everyone contributing. I just can't see us beating ASU without him. Hopefully he heals up and gets back for Iona.

Marcus LoVett (knee) is getting treatment, and I was told there is a decent chance he could meet team out west to play Friday against No. 20 Arizona State. #sjubb.

Status of St. John's guard Marcus LoVett for Friday against No. 16 Arizona State is uncertain. Sprained left knee has kept him out of last two games. #sjubb

Apparently the same knee he injured in his redshirt year. I'm sure they will be cautious.

Someone earlier said LoVett was on his way out there. Got to be careful with this, which I'm sure Staff will be. Hope we play well either way. ASU #16? Wow. Major test to see 'how we do'.

I agree that getting LoVett healthy is paramount. That being said, I think it's dangerous to overlook our remaining non-conference games. A signature win against a team like Arizona St. would go a long way on selection Sunday. It's not implausible that we lose to Iona, or more likely St. Joes absent LoVett.

In short, I would say don't rush him back, but I certainly hope he's ready to go by Iona. If not, I will have concerns that this injury may be more serious. I can't help thinking about the knee injury suffered by one of my favorite recent Johnnies, Darryl Hill. I don't recall him ever specifically injuring the knee, but think it was just one of those chronic conditions.

One thing I’ve noticed w Mullin, as opposed to Lavin, he doesn’t seem to rush players back. Unfortunately he seems injury prone. If I remember correctly, he was injured his redshirt year and last year.

All signs point towards St. John's guard Marcus LoVett (knee) being out tomorrow against Arizona State. #sjubb

ML remained in Queens apparently.

Listen I agree it's a bummer and makes the ASU game even a steeper challenge, but the 'Larry David' in me says "Whew!" I was worried we were rushing him back.Just sayin'.

Totally agree. Have to take the long view here. Next game isn't until 12/17 which gives him a good amount of time to rest/rehab. Just hope injury isn't serious. Get well Marcus!

We need Marcus to get and stay healthy to have any real shot at the NCAA’s.

This would be a battle with Lovett. Without him it is going to be almost impossible to score enough points to win this game. ASU will do everything they can to slow down Ponds and even if they can’t completely, who else can make up for the 15 points a game Marcus is averaging? A few threes from Trimble or a Syracuse type game from Amar? This is a game where Ahmed needs to step up and score at least 20 points without five charges and carries.

And so Marcus is hurt, but no excuse, isn't one of their top guys hurt?
Gotta stop whining without marcus and have others step up.

Maybe Ali go 3 crazy like vs. Cuse?
He's due. lol

Chris Mullin tells me Marcus LoVett's status uncertain for Sunday against Iona. Has a sprained left knee that has kept him out of last three games. Did some basketball stuff yesterday. #sjubb

It's not anything brilliant , but I said from the get go that one of the things that could derail any NCAA hopes is a nagging injury to any rotation player and especially a key player. This could have negative consequences to our season in general if this goes on any further. We must win all of our winnable games.
