Little Ricky just the latest in a long line of hugely successful coaches who were serial cheaters - Calhoun, Boeheim, Roy Williams, Larry Brown, Jim Harrick, Denny Crum, Tark and John Wooden. Probably left a few out.
Coaches who won the NCAA championship, but I would not include with the above - John Thompson, Rollie Mass, and Bobby Knight. Coach K ? Billy D?
I don't think Ricky can weasel out of this scandal, but I'm sure he will try to make himself a victim of it.

Please google the name Sam Gilbert. Ucla through Sam Gilbert was very generous to star players , recruits, 50 years ago. Long before it became the norm.

For at least ten years the UCLA players were paid at monthly dinners, by Sam Gilbert, a wealthy fan of the bruins. He also financed abortions for players girlfriends and helped extricate players from legal problems. This has all been documented and players have confirmed. Now, that said, I think Wooden could have been successful without cheating, as could many other of the coaches I listed, but they did cheat and that will always mitigate the success. To me, Pitino's best coaching was what he did in his two years at Providence, in the late 80's. Inherited garbage, and was in the final four in two years, probably without cheating. Most of these guys are great coaches, but cheating is hard to resist, especially when the coach is insulated to some extent.
