The annual golf outing was held at Deepdale Country Club on Long Island as it began with over 75 golfers taking to the course for an 18-hole round. Following the golf, the group of supporters congregated for a cocktail hour and the formal reception.
Attendees were welcomed by the evening's emcee, FOX Sports and St. John's Radio Network analyst Vin Parise before inviting St. John’s University President Rev. Brian J. “The basketball program is in a really solid position because we have the right people in charge of certain elements that lead to the success of the program,” Shanley said. “I’m grateful to all of you for supporting the school and the pivotal people in the success of St. John’s going forward.”
Following Shanley, Chair of the St. John’s University Board of Trustees Bill Janetschek ’84CBA, ’17HON spoke on the development and needed support for the brand-new state-of-the-art men’s and women’s basketball practice facility. “To be able to honor Coach Carnesecca is very special to me and important for us to continue recognizing his special legacy, especially losing him this past season,” said Kull “Hopefully he is looking down at us and is very proud about the success of the program and everything we are doing at St. John’s. I’m very lucky to have the divine intervention of Coach Carnesecca and Jack Kaiser looking over us at all times.”
