Looking at Isaiah Briscoe

he didn't choose us, move on. wish the kid well. maintaining the relationship ( a good one ) with his school is whats important, for the next recruit

Good points, but he was likely pulling in other talent leading the johnnies to their 2017 championship season.

He could been our hero.

As I recall the talk was if he came so would Sampson and Diallo, true or not that was the talk. Sampson came anyway until Lav was fired of course. Those three and a slightly better chance of keeping Jordan and Obekpa at STJ and out of jail might have made for a decent team with Mussini, Yakwe, Dought, McBrayer, Felix, Christian and Ali. Problem was the only way that team was competitive was if Briscoe came and led the others and when he didn't there were not sufficient backup options, and that ended up being a big problem.

Others probably know better and I have no clue if there is any truth to this, but i've heard some rumors that he might look to transfer after this season and that he is looking strongly at Seton Hall. Maybe he wants to come back home? Maybe he feels he can showcase his skills better for the NBA? Maybe this is all just a rumor, but I wouldn't be completly shocked if it happen. Personally, I think he would look better playin next to Ponds.

I'll believe it when I see it though.

Anything is possible but next year Briscoe will be a much larger part of the UK offence as a few players will be in the NBA.
Would he be the focal point of the Halls offence in 2 Years, of course he would , but would he sit out a year to be the focal point on what would appear to be a weak team????
Does not make sense to me but in recruiting I am often wrong

Yea I agree, but like you said you never know. He could just want to be back home in Jersey. Also, Kentucky is reloading again with 3 top 30 guards coming in.
Including #2 and #12 ranked PG's according to Scout, 3 and 7 according to ESPN. But Cal will figure out a way to rotate them all through no doubt.

was disappointed about not getting Briscoe at the time.
i really thought that Kyle Anderson was the top prize that Lavin never reeled in.

And who pretty much underwhelmed everyone as both a collegiate and pro (averaging 3.8 ppg in his two NBA years).

Ill disagree with you about him being underwhelming as a college player. 15 pts 9 Rbs and 6.5 asts a game as a sophomore

Agree that I didn't give proper due to his soph stats; they were very good. But don't think he lived up the hype surrounding him coming out of high school.

Had Briscoe signed with SJU it probably would have resulted in other signings, saved Lavin's job and by now he would be blamed for ruining Briscoe's pro opportunities.

Briscoe is the glue today, especially defensively. Tough, smart kid, NBA or not.

His game and our expectations would've been entirely different if he'd have come here. Probably would've wound up as more of a chucker and less effective as a player and teammate. Anybody can look better playing for a blueblood.

But his desire and ability to defend would have been a major plus here.

Which comes from Cal's demanding coaching. Mullin not so much as he basically admitted himself.

Briscoe would have been one of our better players no doubt, probably the high scorer and leader. With our luck he would have been another Harkless, one and done.

No doubt. He was indefatigable. Gave new meaning to the phrase "wanting to play defense".

I like Briscoe as a player and I even got sucked into his announcement.
He would have been a great addition to the team, but I cannot believe he would have been a 1 and done player, here, there or anywhere.
He is not a true point guard and he turns ball over too much. Most importantly he is not a great 3 point shooter. Only taking 1.5 per game and only making in his best year 29% of his threes.

Adrian Wojnarowski @wojespn
Ex-Kentucky guard Isaiah Briscoe has agreed to a training camp deal with the Portland Trail Blazers, league source tells ESPN.

Big salary cut no doubt :)
