Local McDonald's All Americans going elsewhere

Locally 2 young ladies are McDonald's all Americans. One is going to Syracuse and the other is being courted by Notre Dame
Johnnie women can't get a sniff. In that regard they resemble the men's team
Emily Engstler and Jordan Nixon from respectfully St. Francis Prep and The Mary Louis Academy

If they want to explore the country let them. We should do the same thing. Go to Houston, Go to Chicago and sell them on NYC.

It's a very old story that kids who grew up in urban NYC surrounds want to select a school elsewhere. In the old days, many returned to NY and St. John's as transfers. Today with much more exposure nationally, many head elsewhere when not happy.

Matt and Chris are local guys and have worked to rebuild many of the relationships that Lavin neglected in and around NYC. Until we establish a high gear program to improve upon the success we have attracting nyc blue chippers will be difficult.

The positive part of this is that NYC is as popular as ever a college destination for kids from around the country and world. All of the local schools are benefiting from that, including LI suburban schools like Hofstra, Molloy, and Adelphi. St. John's is also. We are still the top basketball program in the NYC metro area (if you discount Seton Hall) so it makes sense to recruit nationally.

And hosting, Beast, the entire Christ the King team, as Mr. P posts, is a good sign as well. Circa April 2015 I remember Chris promising certain things. He has kept those promises:
1.players will be in in shape;
2.players will play hard;
3.neglected recruiting pipelines will be (gradually) re-established;
4.he gave NO estimate/guarantee on the time it would take to improve the roster or gather up Ws.
IMO, he's met them all.

I’m not picky. I’ll take the 5 star players from elsewhere.LOL

Those 2 girls had zero interest in SJU and wanted to leave home. Syracuse recently played in the NCAA title game and Notre Dame is a top 5 program. Staff tried but to no avail. Can’t blame them in the least.
However last season they got a 4 * recruit in Qadashah Hoppie from Long Island who should win BE freshman of the year. We have another 4* recruit from LI for next season. They are certainly trying to keep the local talent at home.
Post is a little unfair.

Ref'd a game at St. Mary's last night, and got to see 4* and McDonald's AA nominated Bailey, who is going to SJU next year. She is the real deal. Can play outside and in, hits the 3, is a great passer and can finish. I know she'll face much better competition next year, but she's a great get for SJU. It was Senior Night at St. Mary's and Coach T was in the house.
