LJ's Regression

Greg "Boo" Harvey (born October 1, 1966)
He relies too much on the 3 ball, and honestly I don't think he is a deadeye shooter. He also doesn't have a great handle.

So, teams will let him shoot long threes. If he were deadly from out there they'd have to come out to play him, and when they did, if his handle was better, could blow by them for layups. As it is, his moves to the hoop are suspect and he relies too much on that crappy floater.

As the 4th or fifth option he had some amazing putback slams, some garbage points, and some wide open looks when teams collapsed to stop Ponds.
You described Figgy perfectly and opponents know his game so not having other legitimate scorers makes it easier to defend against this team as the Friars showed last night even with their pathetic showing. I disagree with coach Anderson in his playing Rutherford and Dunn at the same time and question the non utilization of Steere when Roberts is struggling. He has made some judgment mistakes with his use of players like inserting Heron with under a minute to play. Everyone in the arena knew he would chuck up a shot whether it was good or bad. If anything he should have inserted him with under 4 minutes to get less anxious to make THE play.

I agree.

It's silly not to put steere in, everyone seen what the pc bigs did, maybe if steere was in the missed ft putback jam never happens. That must have been a humbling experience for Greg, but what could he do against a bigger, stronger player.
How.about putting steere in coach, what's to lose? After Saturday we'll be 1-5 anyways...if anything it gives him experience.

The putback slam was on Champaignie.

Coach Anderson isnt playing Steere for a reason. I trust him. Something is going on in practice or outside of basketball where he is not holding up his end of the bargain.

Simply block out. Maybe, we get an over-the-back call. No one put a body on the player. They all were flat-footed and watched.

What disgusted me most last night, was Heron came out for the second half, score a quick bucket, then a 4 point play when he made a 3 and drew a foul. I was thinking maybe a 15 point second half from him if he could stay on the court. I didn't even utter those words, when he committed 2 very quick fouls, perhaps the first was phantom, the second a charge and his big 2nd half was done as quickly as it started.

It's hard ot figure out what he is thinking when he charges to the basket into a crowd - it's as if he doesn't see the guy he is about to run over.

He hasn’t regressed. He’s trying to do all the scoring because nobody else can. Simple as that. Kid is excellent I think this talk of regression is nonsense.

Well then the kid needs to stop thinking he's MJ.

Are you his mom? Your boy went 4-17. Tell him he's got to let the game come to him. Tell him is your wide open from 27 feet it's because your opponent has been told to let you shoot from there. Also tell him that 10 foot floater is a low % shot. All that has nothing to do with your son's teammates Mrs. Figueroa. By the way, he is a really nice kid. You raised a nice young man.

Let the game come to him? Teams all know he and Dunn are our only scorers. They’re easily keyed on. You’re a dope FYI. I think people knocking arguably our best player is silly.

No you're right Mrs. Figueroa. He's played great. When the Bulls sucked i remember Jordan put 63 points on the Celts in a playoff game but he took 225 shots.

Figgy has been a no show in 2 huge big east games(Butler and Providence). He is better then that but is really struggling out there. I thought this would be his year but it just isnt.

Lets hope he rebounds and leads us to a W on Sat.

Figgy played 34 minutes yesterday. CMA's defense asks a lot more out his players in terms of ground covered. CMA's defensive schemes requires more equal distribution of minutes. Anyone would be gassed playing all out for 34 minutes. Is this his problem on the offensive end? It may be one of them, along with Figgy trying to do too much. He is more of a slasher than a scorer. He is doing too much lateral slashing instead of towards the basket. I really miss watching ponds slash his way through double teams on his way to the basket, not across the lane. Looks like Figgy misses Ponds, too.

yes he shot 41 times but hitting on 537 of them 22-41, that was before anyone know how great he'd be.
This great I've ever seen. Hated the guy as a Knick fan, but as a basketball fan, I'm glad I got to see him.
And, he play in an era where defense and hard fouls were allowed. Not todays BS where everything is a flagrant.

I like both mcnpa and mrs
. Figueroa so just playing with them. No one is forcing figgy to take shots he can't make. My opinion is that he is much better playing off the ball and not handling it 30 feet from the basket.

He's certainly better than he has recently played but has to remember how badly Ponds played when he forced things last season

I remember the game well. Jordan shot nearly 54% on 41 attempts.

Everything changed when Heron got back. If I’m MA, the only person not coming off the bench before him is Steere. We were playing with a nice rhythm and confidence was up. I fear the chemistry might’ve been jack up inserting Heron right back in. He just doesn’t have it and doesn’t play at the intensity of the others. Need Roberts to come back. And Champagnie.

I was being sarcastic. Great players are not as hamstrung by a poor supporting cast as was suggested. Granted LJ would do better in a supporting role on a great team.

Need Roberts to come back. And Champagnie.
In the last two games Champagnie has scored 18 points (7/7 fgs) and 9 rebounds.
